  • Power loss

    Hi All

When I’m practising hovering, it runs fine for a few munites but after a while if I go for more power it seams to loss all power the motor seams to stop more or less.
If I rest it for a few minutes it seams to run fine for awhile. The same thing happened on the second battery so I can rule that out.

Do you think the motor is on its way out or something different?

Can you borrow another charger? Does anything feel excesivly hot? When the motor stops ish does it just fall to the ground?

Is the ESC warm or hot? what is your throttle curve? I had this once on a repair job, it was all too low and the ESC shuts down, try the standard 0,25,50,75,100

I wouldn't rule out the batterys, if they've been charged on the same charger and it's possible both are 'not very well'. They both could also have been over discharged. If you can try a pack from someone else just to make sure.

sounds like the ESC is shutting down due to over current or low voltage, I'd suspect your packs

13 tooth motor cog ? make sure your TC is Ok and back-off the pitch. You need that motor to rev move !! Same prob as I had with the repair job !

Hi, well you need to match the torque/power for your motor to the head rpm that your T-Rex likes to run at.

The Rex as with all helis needs a certain headspeed and a electric motor has a speed where it has the most power.

Align say the best for the stock motor stock battery and blades is 13 teeth, You can move down but mind the motor don't over speed. If you changed to 4 cells the motor gear would need to be bigger. I can only tell you what I have found etc on stock motors and 3 cells, others can help you better when you want more power for hard 3D !!

On normal forward flight etc motor and ESC should be warm, I fitted the ESC on its side outside the frame to let air pass over the heatsink, I also fitted the heat sink to the motor.

I don't think you can actually overspeed an electric motor

Martin's right. If the headspeed is too low the esc will strain and get very hot. My 600 was doing this until I upped the head speed.

                          Good luck dude...
