  • Engine put's up a fight!

Can any1 tell me if it's norm for an engine to have so much compression?? It's a weston 50 euro tec, with out plug it's fine, free flowing, but soon as plugs in it 's quite hard to turn over so much so it's broke the 1 way bearings on 2 of my hex start's?? It's not siezed but u can feel it on the starter that it's trying that bit harder.
    Any clues??

weston motors are ABN engines, meaning they have no ring so they will have more "static" compression than normal heli motors.

word of warning.. be very careful with that engine. one slightly lean run and it will be a gonner.

the other common problem is flooding. this is where you get too much fuel in the cylinder and you get a hydraulic lock. when stopping the enigne pinch the fuel clamp and let the engine run out of fuel that way. it will help a lot with situations like this. Also if the engine is excessivly rich it will cause issues with flooding.

scratches in the bore and poor compression or very tight over tdc even with plug out.
