  • Size Helps

I have been learning since January and I started with a Raptor 30, all though I can take off hover tail in and land without training gear I am still unable to keep it stable and wouldn’t pass any tests.

    I now have a Raptor 90 SE and a 60, lucky me.
I found them a bit intimidating when first spooling up and stood well back but once off the ground the handling difference is staggering.
I now take off and can hold a stable hover without wondering all over the place with allot more confidence.
So what I’m saying is, if you can afford buy bigger, you will only change it later like me.
The only draw back is the cost of fuel so, if any one out there would like to swap a 60 size gasser for my mint 90SE then give me a shout.

Fixer, The bigger they are, the more stable they are. I couldn't believe the difference between my hawk 30 and the Robbe super sport 60.

Love to take your SE off your hands, but have my own guzzler in the pred.

      Ah

Now you know why I got the Century Gasser! Big and saves on fuel costs
which is a BIG plus in my book.

As for bigger the more stable the diffrence is amazing I must admit. I took my Heli 'A' in 15mph winds with the gasser. raptor 30 would of been a real fight but the Gasser well... Its big powerful and I love it :-)

Give me a gasser over most 90s at this time. Thing is I don't do 3D but
even if I did the Predator will and can handle it when I get there.

You won’t want to swap the Predator then I guess

Fixer: Er Raptor 90 doesnt even come close

          Sorry

But try the bmfa site and see if you can find someone on there to swap
the raptor for a Gasser. Er I would say get the Pred but there are others.
Oh and the 23cc is meant to be nicer than the 26cc one though.

I just cannot think of a good one though!

Reminds me I wil need some Glow fuel soon, I am going to magnum as
          everyone raves about it.

I’ve tried the BMFA site before but my email address isn’t accepted,

I’m hoping to get a Pred for Christmas and would have gone for the 26 so I’m glad you mentioned getting the 23, I will have to look into it a bit more before I get one.

I was offered Magnum 30 at £18 this week so if that’s a good price I can give you a link.

            Cheers Disc

              Fixer:

If you read into the the Predator Gassers the 23cc is more than capable and
are smooth. The 26cc is not as smooth and harder to get lined up.

But I got the 26cc as it was the last one they had and it was sent to the shop so I took it. Also the Hanson engine 23cc is meant to be better. I
found out this after I bought it!

But I got help to build it and its worked out okay in the end.

I have a hanson 23cc engine in my Robbe Cautro, running very sweet and very powerful, tied it to a zimmerman 90/gasser muffler and it loves it. Only minor tuning left to do and I'll have it set up ready for a camera mount to be fitted.
                Cheers

A word to the wise here Fixer.....

When a 60/90/big heli makes contact with the ground unexpectedly, it does so with an awfull lot more momentum than a 30 sized machine, so is far more likely to do serious, if not terminal damage.

Side by side, your much lighter 30 sized heli will usually bounce off terra-firma (relatively speaking of course) unscathed.

As with any damaged heli, all you have to do is take your wallet out of your back pocket and throw it at the wreckage, and it miraculously gets fixed!
