Tx Mode

Hi All

Which Tx mode do most heli fliers use or advise
I have flown FW on mode 1 for about 30 years and was bought a Honeybee CP2 (mode 2) as a Christmas present by my son.
The transition to 2 was a little strange to start with but I think it is easier for Helis. I will still stick to mode 1 for FW though.
Has anyone else found this?

I flew mode one in my very early days but that was only because it was 27mhz!!

all our local plane fliers flew mode 2 so as soon as i got a proper transmitter i switched to mode 2.

I am not sure switching between modes for different flying is a good thing or not. Certainly I can fly mode 1 on a plane but certainly wouldnt attempt it on a heli without a lot of sim time first. Which i wouldnt do incase it damaged my mode 2 flying.

I would recomend you switch both disciplines to the same mode. Mode 2 on helis is much more popular so finding help with a mode 1 heli can be hard but not impossible. Most mid range or more transmitter it is possible to copy between transmitters. I have set up several models on my transmitter and copied the memory accross to the customers mode 1 tx so its not as bad as it used to be.

I agree with Ade, I have also dabbled in mode 1, although I fly mode 2. It would really pay I think to decide on which one you are going to go for and stick with the same one for both disciplines, as I'm sure the first time you got into a knot you would mentally revert back to the one you know best and almost subconciously put in what you think are the correct stick inputs, which could if it is the wrong mode have disasterous effects.

I would also say stick with mode 2 for both, as you have already pointed out, it is easier to fly a heli in mode 2.

Thanks for the input, I am coming to the conclusion that my mode 1 days have to be confined to a distant memory.
I will have a play at FW on mode 2 one day, but for the time being the heli seems to have taken precedence.
