  • First nose in today - am I moving too fast?

    Hi
Did my first nose in hover and figure 8 this evening on my Raptor 50 and it felt a bit nervous but was all ok.
Question is, I'm keen to crack on but should I be spending more time in the hovering area getting my tail in and left/right hovering absolutely spot on or am I right to try new things and move on to forward flight etc.?? (I just don't want to miss something if that makes sense ).

    Regards,
    Cheers, Lee.

    Hey Leebert!
Sounds like your getting on well with your new Raptor.
Fig 8s and nose in, thats more than you did with your electric.
I spose to answer your question, do what ever you feel comfortable with and dont push yourself to hard. I had a session tonight with my twister and used the whole battery on Nose in and Fig 8s. Im gonna stick with that untill I feel comfortable with it then move on to other things

Congrats on your flying new Raptor

      Leebert,

Very nice, keep going on hovering though do it at around 6ft and
get used to placing it where you want it. side on hovering is very good
      practice as well.

Always try diffrent things though so you don't get bored.

Forward flight to stoping is good then bring it backwards.....

Basically What I do Is a bit of Hovering, Some figure 8's some nose
      in, and sometimes something new...

Oh and Broke my Swift today :-(

I would do as much as you feel comfortable with, pushing yourself further and further is fine as you learn quicker that way. The only draw back is that when you have a crash, which if you are pushing yourself all the time is inevitable, unless you have really learnt the other stuff first you might find it will dent your confidence quite a bit so you will end up doing some of it again.

Push yourself on, thats fine, but also have some flights where you are just doing things you are comfortable with. If you go to the field and have say 5 flights in all, do maybe 3 flights of just things you are comfortable with and maybe 2 of trying something new, but not for the whole flight though, split it half and half.

It would also be quite a good idea to have a little rest before and after your "try something new" flights, as that way you go into them calm and collected and have a rest after the flight to settle the nerves a little. You may find that things will seem a little easier that way too, as it gives the brain a little time for what you are about to do, or have just learnt to sink in.

Good luck, it sounds like you are doing very well indeed!

        Cheers,
        Pete.

it is important you get the precision control before getting too far into other stuff. but also its important to have some fun.

as pete said split it up, do some new stuff and work on the old stuff at the same time.

The harder you push yourself, the quicker your progress will be . . . . . . however, there can be a price, you can crash more often.

Well done on your progress thus far, and keep it up.

Well done. As the other guys have said, don't over extend yourself.

Thanks for all your comments everyone.
I like the idea of splitting the days flights into improving hovering precision and then do a little bit of something that pushes me a bit
I tend to want to go to the hovering area for my first flight to make sure everything is ok and bits aren't going to drop off - I'm get quite nervous about this before the first flight of the day so I guess that would be the ideal opportunity to perfect my hovering etc. while I'm there.
                Thanks again
                Cheers, Lee.
