I have owned a Twister Bell 47 for 2 weeks now and am enjoying it.
I have Cars, Boats, Planes, Motorbikes and now, this Helicopter.
Electric Flight is what I enjoy ..... despite it's limited flight times.
The Bell47 is a good helicopter and seems quite easy to fly. It arrived from Sussex Model Centre within a few days of the order - I also ordered a spare battery at the same time. It was a very good price at 108 for the Helicopter.
When I started the Helicopter up for the first time the flybar became loose 8O looking at it the flybar carrier had severed! Never mind I thought, just get on the phone to SMC and they will see me right. Well, I wasn't expecting the attitude of 'tough luck' to be honest - remember, I had the Heli for around 1 hour and within 10 seconds of starting the flybar carrier broke - anyway, after being a bit more assertive they offered to replace the carrier at cost ................ to my mind it should have been free (but I guess they must have received it faulty and didn't know, so sent it out) - anyway I accepted their offer and they debited my CC. The spare part arrived in a few days.
I thought I would throw myself on the goodwill of 'J Perkins Distribution Ltd' and informed them of the faulty item. Bearing in mind that the part retails at 4:99 - J Perkins supply them to the retail outlets - and J Perkins buy them in from abroad ..... it doesn't take a lot of brainpower to work out that the cost to J Perkins of this part must be in the order of 50p. Very cheap way to buy outstanding Customer Loyalty I'm sure you would agree ........................ well, they don't seem to see it that way.
They told me to send the item to them and they will examine it, then replace if they deem it necessary, seems a long winded affair for such a little cheap item? Anyway, I have sent it back to them ..... I will report back whether goodwill had shone through. I have to add that, in the meantime, they found a used carrier and sent it to me free .... sadly, it was the wrong part so I sent it back (but the goodwill was there to send it in the first place).
I have a funny thing happening with one of my battery packs ..... it works well for about 30 seconds and then the heli loses power and lands - about 1 second later it lifts off like a new battery and flies for another 30 seconds and then does the same, lands, but 1 second later its off again like fully charged ..... it's really annoying.
Both batteries have been treated exactly the same, one is great - giving 8 minutes full flight time ..... the other acts as above??? Oddly the one that came with the Heli is the best one??
Any ideas?
Ooooooops, sorry, just realised I have been blurting on, and on, and on, on my first ever post!
I'll pop off now ....... and HI all!!!
