Hi all. I was hoping some other newbies would have posted since my last one but as they haven't, I hope you don't think I am hogging this site !!

However, my query is that on the odd occasion when my Shuttle plus is flying above head height, I sometimes lose sight of its' aileron position ie whether the main blades are pointing towards me or away when flying at right angles to my position, especially against a sky background. To get over this I thought of painting the top or underside of the main rotors but before I do so, can anyone tell me if this works and whether it is best to paint the top or undersides or any other suggestions?

There is no problem with painting the blades, providing you balance them afterwards. However, it might not cure the orientation. It sounds like you are flying a bit close to yourself as well and letting the model get into a position where you can't quite tell if it's level is potentially expensive.

A better way would be to colour the skids. You can get different coloured tubing to fit on the skids and by seeing which is higher than the other would help with determining the model's attitude.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Ant. This isn't a major problem for me but is just another safety feature which I thought might help me avoid a potential crash situation. Funnily enough this does not occur when flying too close but when flying above head height some distance away say 50/60 feet mainly during a turn and although I only lose sight of its configuration for a few seconds, a tell-tail of some sort would stop me making that fatal mistake. Unless someone comes up with another suggestion, I may try your idea of coloured skid tubes and see how I get on.
