    Hi Folks,
Looking for advice on what to buy, not a newbie but certainly not competent.
Recommendations on something to really get my teeth into and learn to fly more competently.
    Thanks,

    Paul

I was thinking of a helicopter club where you could see what the members are flying and talk to them. Of course each one will have his own views and rcommendations but it would give you an opportunity to make an informed decision.

              Hi Paul,
What size were you thinking of? Bigger helis are easier to fly, less twitchy and less effected by wind. Obviously they cost more and crash costs are higher too.

Not entirely sure but essentially I'd like something that i can learn from and progress possibly the size of a 250 or bigger ?

The Trex 470 is a really nice heli for a reasonable price, you could do a lot worse.

A lot depends on what you have to spend. If funds are tight the ALZRC X360 from Banggood is a really nice heli for a steal of a price in 'Super Combo' format: https://uk.banggood.com/ALZRC-X360-FAST-FBL-6CH-3D-Flying-RC-Helicopter-Super-Combo-With-Motor-ESC-Servo-Gyro-p-1343938.html?

By the way.....Beware the mixed naming conventions used. Most manufacturers have standardised on using blade size as a naming convention, but Align still insist of using 'made up' numbers on their smaller helis. For example the Trex 470 is a 380mm blade heli, so it's only slightly larger than the 360mm blade ALZRC X360. The X360 is a fair bit larger than a traditional Trex 450 (which takes 325mm blades).

                              Hi Paul,

Most weekends me and a couple of buddies fly at some waste ground down near the old Exhibition centre, off Claymore Drive. It would be great to see you down there. Banchory Devenick has a pretty active heli flying contingent but most days i dont have enough time to be at a club field all day, so the Claymore Drive site suits me as I'm in Bridge of Don.

PM me and we can share contact details. I have a Trex 470 that I could bring along to show you, but will need some notice because it's got no servos in at the moment.
