    Hi Guys

It is a long time since i touched a Helicopter

I have an old Mini titan E325 sadly neglected after house move and a T Rex 500 ESP. looking at the models now available , it looks as though I will need to start again. The E325 no longer exists, so I guess I will be in the market for a 450 size helicopter what is a 470? i"m assuming its between 450 and 500 size?. Can I upgrade my 500 esp (unfinished kit )to FBL?

I was just at hovering stage with my mini titan.

What is the simulator everyone uses these days, I have a mac and I don't want to have windows anywhere near it

I will need a new radio, how about the good old DX8

    Sorry for so many questions

    Many thanks and kindest regards
    Dave

Good to see someone else coming back after a long break!

The Trex 500 is easy to convert to FBL, I just put one together myself really cheap using a Tarot FBL head that costs £30.00.

The Trex 470 is probably redundant if you have a 500. Some heli classes have slowly crept up in size and some new classes have emerged in between, like the newer 500 class that runs 500mm blades and the larger-than-450 class running 360mm-380mm blades.

The DX8 is still perfectly good. The newer versions have voice alarms for the telemetry and newer firmware etc. but the original version DX8 and DX7S still do the job just fine IMHO.

With sims you'll get a lot of different opinions based on personal preference. I recently updated AccuRC to the latest version and I'm liking it a lot.

Nowt wrong with the trusty old dx7 either. It makes the Heli fly exactly the same as a £1500 tx lol.

I used the original DX7 for many years and the main reason I changed to the 7S (and also have a v1 DX8) is because I had something like 13 models, all with complex setups of subtrims and travel limits, curves etc. representing hours of work each. So I was worried that if anything happened to it I'd lose all that time and work (unless I wanted to meticulously write it all down).

So I got the DX7S as it has an SD card for backups. However... shortly afterwards I was mostly FBL and mostly Spartan, and there's very little TX setup anyway because once you have calibrated to the FBL you just copy and paste for a new model, thus making it mostly a moot point. I have used a little telemetry but I could really live without it.

Thats the thing with Neo also, all the model setup parameters even throttle settings are in the unit, the Tx kinda becomes redundant in that aspect.
