An apology first; yet again after another few years I'm back into my small Blade mCX. As I am now retired, its my only working heli and most batteries are working. But......

The transmitter is RTF one so my first 'want to change': what is another heli to move onto that can be used indoors or small garden without grass? (the Blade mCX has the double blades which makes it stable and easy to change direction etc. So what is single blade and more attention to do more active movement?)

Is it still Spektrum transmitter as best use? which version now that will work with other small helis. Need a lower price one at the moment but is effective to use.

Hope you don't mind me asking but it looks like a lot changes quite soon. All progress. Thanks.

There are now three generations of Spektrum TXs, the original DX7, then the silver face DX8 and DX7S, DX18 and the latest are the black face DX series. The original DX7 and the silver DX8 and DX7S are DSM2 and DSMX. The newer black face models are DSMX only (I think) and they have newer firmware, voice notifications and stuff like that. The silver faced DX8, DX7S and DX18 have basic telemetry.

Soooooooo, my take on it would be that if you want to move to a better TX that you can use with other aircraft I'd find a good 2nd hand silver DX7S or DX8 as they'll be the best value for money and you can use them with pretty much anything.

If you want a single rotor heli then you would best going for one that has electronic stabilisation, that way it will feel more like your co-axial mCX. Stabilisation is one of the biggest advancements in RC heli technology of recent times and really does make a big difference.

In the Blade range and for helis that are big enough to fly outdoors you could look at the Blade 200S or the 230S. The 200 is fixed pitch (so limited aerobatic potential) the 230S is collective pitch which allows a much more advanced flight envelope. Both have Blade's 'SAFE' system which stabilises the heli and limits bank angles which is great for a beginner, but you can turn 'SAFE' down or completely off as your skills progress

Both are available either 'Bind and Fly' (provide your own transmitter) or 'ready to fly' (Transmitter included). The included transmitter is the 'DXe' which is ok but if you wanted to progress in the hobby a higher spec Tx would be better. The new DX6 (G3) or DX8 (G2) are worth looking at.

If it’s a micro Heli you want then Get your self a xk k110 you won’t regret it , awesome flyers & super strong, ready to fly inc transmitter for around £70 delivered , personally I wouldn’t touch another blade Heli , they are just money pits

Wow! thank you everyone. So much technical improvement and progress forward giving me more choices to consider. Going to be fun even just researching!
