  • Raptor 30 v2 THRO HOLD and CUT

    Hello everyone !
Wanted to ask you something, just couple of minutes ago i have tried and tested my new Raptor 30 v2 (hands still smell of Nitro, my first Nitro Heli) and have a problem. When i started the engine full stick down i noticed that i have to hold my blades quite hard from stopping them spinning... well that doesnt sound right dos it on full stick down?

I am using DX6i Spektrum (installed it yesterday) What can be wrong can you please help me out guys im sure the blades not supose to spin that hard maybe ive done something in settings wrong or not correct what is the right settings from stopping this?

Secondly lol the TH HOLD is not working ether same as Throttle cut. Well it does work in some way like if i move the Stick up a little from the Lower possible position it will move the servo that connected to engine to minimum position. Is the settings wrong again and how do i set this up as to stop the heli i had to hold the fuel tube to stop fuel pumping in to the engine and cut it off before it does my hands.

Very appreciate your time and help !!!
    Regards,
    From London, Sergey

Get down to the local club and they will help you with the final set up

Throttle hold leaves the engine at a set tickover point

Disc - I would gladly go to a Local Club but i cant really call it a Local as it at least 15-20 Miles from my house as i live in Central London and dont have my own transport yet.

I know what those switches suppose to do but i need help with the correct setting for them even from anyone will do if you can tell me all the setting from your control regarding to what is responsible for them and i can set them up on My transmitter.

      Cheers,
      Sergey

        Hi

I have my Throttle end points on my DX6i (with Raptor 50) set to 100% at the top and 70% at the bottom. This gives me a nice idle without engaging the clutch. These settings are in the 'Travel Adj' menu.

The Throttle cut is activated in the 'Thro cut' menu and should be set to 'ACT'. When the Throttle cut button is pressed, the servo should move to its lowest point and cut the engine. If it binds, adjust the length of the control rod until the desired position is reached.

        Cheers

Sorry by the way lol might sound funny but which way is to close when throttle cut is activated when looking at Raptor from the Muffler side to cut engine is the rod moving towards engine or towards servo? Like does the thing suppose to open the engine when moved or close it?

If its a ThunderTiger engine then look at the carb arm. It will move out to open the hole and let more air in which means its going to full throttle. Obviously when the arm moves in then its closing the throttle. If its an OS engine then looking from the muffler side the marking to the right is zero throttle and the marking to the left is full throttle. Obviously half throttle is the middle of the 3 little marks in between the 2 mentioned above. Its pretty simple to work out really. Is your throttle trim all the way down but the helicopter blades still try to move when you start it? Have you adjusted the trim to get the motor to idle nicely? I highly recommend you get someone to look it over to be honest though or get to a club. Even if its just for someone to have a quick look at it and give you some tips. Nitro helicopters are extremely dangerous mate and if that thing goes off full chat in your hands then your gonna be in trouble.
              Cheers

Hi Lee, yes finally i sort it out with THROTTLE CUT it was actually fully open when i stated the engine must say it wasnt easy to hold those blades from spinning, very very lucky for me nothing happened well good lesson learned. Not sure but on the other side there is like a little thing that i can turn like some sort of adjustment thing my engine is an OS 32 .By the way what is a good % to have a TH HOLD switch at in Normal and Stunt Mode?

By the way what does AIL D/R Switch and RUDD D/R?

Thank you all for your time to reply guys! I think ill stick to this forum seems to be very active

Th Hold should be set to your idle position and it is good practise, once set, to always start with throttle hold engaged and only released once the model is on the flight line ready for take off and you are a good distance from it.

RUDD D/R I've never used and the AIL D/R allows you to set up different rates for your Elevator (forward backwards) and Aileron (left right) movement of the swash plate and subsequent response of the Heli.

                    Cheers
