I Think i'm going to move where i fly just down the hill a bit because of that. It's not the first time i've wondered into the sun by mistake.Trex 450L Dominator (flown six times crashed twice)

If it helps any, I think we've all done that at some point and a the very least, lost orientation. Those and electrical failures hurt the most as you feel like it's not really your own fault, very frustrating, but it sounds like you are taking everything in your stride which is great, you need that kind of attitude to stick with helis

And the prices of the parts i needed are actually cheaper than a lot of Blade 230s parts.Originally posted by The Tok'ra View PostIf it helps any, I think we've all done that at some point and a the very least, lost orientation. If you fly into the sun, shut one eye and open it when past the sun, that way you will be able to see with one eye afterwards until the other eye recovers.....Originally posted by Paula View PostWill do!
I blame the Sun.
But best not flying towards the sun...Regards Adrian

Humm, that's a bit of a subjective question, and you'll get answers based on peoples experiences, some will have had bad experience, some will say that Gartt parts can be better than Align parts.Originally posted by Paula View PostAre Gartt parts a good substitute?
I've (nearly) only ever used Align parts, but the main grips I got in my first 450L kit were not machined properly and made for a very sloppy head once assembled, not what you want at all in a DFC head.
That said, Align UK replaced those parts for me FOC when I sent them the ones I got in the kit, so I have been happy with Align's customer support.
I have a Gartt, Swashplate on my old Trex 500, it works o.k. but I did notice that the threaded holes for the swash balls are a different size than the Align ones, which meant I couldn't use the Align balls on that swash as they were a little too loose in the holes and would strip out easily as a result. The gartt swash balls don't give quite the right geometry for my set up.
I also found that in order to prevent binding, I had to remove a fair chunk of metal from the back of the swash plate arms to stop the main grip links hitting the back of the arms when the swash was at full deflection (full Evelator, Aileron or both)

Ok, i think i'll probably stick to Align. It's only a couple of pound in most cases and i'd like to keep mine in good nick for the next crash!Trex 450L Dominator (flown six times crashed twice)
