  • Trex 450 DFC?

I'm looking to get a larger Heli to fly in the a park (there is a designated area) I've been flying my blade 230s for a couple of years and i'd like something that handles the wind better
I've seen this on ebay and i'm tempted buy the price and the electronics. It comes with the servos too, i asked
I'd like to hear another opinion or 2
    The seller sent this message:
The Helicopter is an Align 450 PRO with DFC head it was left as belt drive on the tail for my son to learn on (he has lost interest )The servos are Align DS450x3 and ES9257 for the rudder. The heli runs on 3S battery .It has the usual signs of wear and tear but at that price WITH AR7200BX it is CHEEP.The AR7200BX is worth more than that on it's own.

Blade CPS (for smashing into walls)
Blade SR HUEY (too scared to fly at the moment, the 230s is going to end up in here)

The grips and swash are blue but the headblock is black, so maybe it started out as a flybarred 450 pro? I was not aware they made a belt tail version of the pro (the sport had a belt tail but a totally different frame layout) but then again I'm not totally in-the-loop on all the Trex variations.

In general it looks like it's in reasonable shape though.

      That's a bit of a mixed bag.

The frames and tail aren't Align. I'm certain of that. The frame looks like the HK450 Pro from Hobbyking. The over sized screws give it away.

Cyclic servos look like Align, motor does too (460MX), head and grips are Align (pro and sport mix), swash is possibly Align.

It depends what it goes for. It's worth its current £56, but is it worth £100? Maybe just. £200 certainly not.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

It looks like it might of started life as a trex 450 plus ( some bits anyway) , I think belt drives are better than torque tube so ideal

IMO I wouldn't pay £100 for it , best bit on it is the beastx

Yeah on a 450 I'd rather have a belt tail because it's just too easy to touch the tailrotor on uneven ground or tall grass or something and strip a TT gear. I guess it depends what the AR7200BX is worth (I assume it has a sat as well). If it's worth £50 then at the current bid you'd almost get the rest for free, so the question then is how much is everything else worth.

ok great. He's actually selling 3. I'll keep keep an eye on the price. I'm thinking i should probably save my pennies up and buy a new one that's perfect for me.

I'm sure Bigpop's nailed it. It's a hobbyking or similar clone airframe. These clones were available with the Pro airframe and belt drive, unlike the original Align 450 Pro that was torque tube only. Most of the electronics are genuine Align and if you have a Spektrum Tx you cant go too far wrong with the AR7200BX.

All in all it looks like a decent buy if you can get it for the right price. A working AR7200BX sells for £60 or £70 on eBay, the servos sell on eBay for at least £10 each, the motor (if genuine Align) maybe £20. Assuming it's all in working order that's £120 value without adding in the ESC and airframe.

Those two are genuine Align helis and they are the newer 'L' model. They are likely to go for a higher price, maybe around the £160 mark and not a bad buy if you can get one for that price.

PS.. the 450L comes in either 3S or 6S versions, the 6S was also 'stretched' to run 360mm blades. Might be an idea to find out which version they are as there are a few differences.

                        He's answered:
                        The 2 450L 's are 6 s the 450 is 3s
                        6s is better i assume.

Yeah, the 6S version has better ESC and servos and the bigger blades, and the 6S setup gives a bit more power. The only downside is that the batteries are slightly more expensive.

I just managed to pick up a 450 plus dfc from ebay with some spares and 4 lipos for a good price. There were a few on there I was watching, also a Blade 450x. Seems like a nice piece of kit, considering I have a Nexus 30 from ye olden days and a 120SR.
