New EU legislation that came into force in Jan 2015 was made DSM2 illegal on new products sold in the EU/UK, so although 'the rest of the world' has backward compatible transmitters the EU/UK doesnt after that date.

Yeah, that EU market spec change caught out quite a few people with older DSM2 micros and receivers.

Right let me start by making my humble apologies stating that DX8g2 was backwards compatible. Sorry. In my defence I did ask prior to purchase at 'TJD Models' and was mis-informed, I have since found this out that this was in correct after reading first comment from Scallybert. I have spoken with TJD's since and have been given the option to return it for a refund, I am debating this but as it was a good price (£169 no rx) I'm not sure whether to keep it or just replace with new rx's. I was going to get new 8 channel rx for the 600 anyway this is looking to be the AR8010T (so I could add some sort of protection module)

I now need your help as I have been out of thre loop for so long.....
I've been looking at spektrum 6 channel Dsmx rx's for my blade 400 and I'm a little confused. Tjd's suggested the AR610 (£28) so I started looking around as you do (I know bad move to much knowledge can be a bad thing), I found the AR6210 which comes with external receiver a little cheaper but it seems to do more for less money and that doesnt make sense. Budget is tight at the mo but what would you go for ?

I have been using a couple of lemon rx's with duel diversity and as far i know they hold up better than the specky ones.

I noticed the 7 channel has 3 axis gyro stabilizer, is this the same as a fbl receiver ?

No the lemon 3 axis gyro receiver is for fixed wing planes, not helis.

I'd recommend lemon too, they are great value. if using them with a flybar heli you would just want one of the reguler DSMX receivers, for instance: Lemon Rx DSMX Compatible 10-Channel Diversity Antenna Receiver or:Lemon Rx DSMX Compatible 6-Channel Receiver with Diversity Antenna

You could if you wanted add a satellite receiver to improve antenna diversity: Lemon Rx DSMX Compatible Diversity Satellite (DSM2 backward compatible but must use DSMX compatible primary receiver) But it's not really necassary with the receivers i've linked to because they have diversity antenna anyway.

You can use satellite receivers 'on their own' but only if using a flybarless controller that allows you to connect a satellite direct and so omit using any conventional receiver at all.

If you decide to stick with Spektrum I would use the newer AR7700 serial Rx (one wire connection). Comes complete with an additional remote Rx for £50

Spektrum AR7700 Serial Bus DSMX Receiver SPMAR7700

It's marketed for use on quads, but it works fine on helis too.

                    Interesting.

If you use it via the 'remote receiver' output, what lead do you use ? It seems this output appears as a regular serve plug.

Surely that wouldn't work with Carpman's flybar helis, there would be nowhere to plug the servos in? ... Unless he's also planning on a FBL upgrade?

I'll let you chat amongst yourselfs to sort that 1 (Ar7700) out, then if someone would like to explain I'm here when your ready. I have ordered a lemon 6ch rx for time being.

The AR7700 is a 'single line output' receiver. It's designed to connect to a multirotor flight controller or a heli flybarless unit via one wire. It doesn't have conventional sockets for you to connect your cyclic or tail servos to, so it would be no use for a flybar heli.

Flybar helis are so scarce on these forums that flybarless has become the default assumption. The Lemon 6 channel will be fine.

I've only looked at the pictures, but..:
Spektrum Serial Receiver with PPM, SRXL, Remote Rx (SPMAR7700): Spektrum - The Leader in Spread Spectrum Technology

                            Whoops - I'm wrong:

                            ///
Q – Can I use normal servos with my AR7700?A – Yes; but only through the Gear, Aux1, and Aux2 ports (channels 5, 6, and 7). These are theonly output ports on the AR7700 that can drive conventional (PWM) servos. The AR7700 cannotcontrol conventional (PWM) servos for primary flight controls (channels 1 through 4).

Sorry guys, you're probably right, I have no experience with flybar helis but I can see the issue with servos now. I'm so used to dealing with FBL units with their own servo inputs.
