  • Output voltage from fbl units

Hi all. Can some one tell me if the servo output voltage from the various fbl units
is regulated and can be set i.e. 4.8, 6volts etc or does it fluctuate with the output from the esc and the demands of the servos.
I have a servo that stipulates 4.8v only so was just wondering. Even if I use a seperate battery pack for the servos and fbl unit at
full charge even on load the voltage is quite high. I would
be most grateful for any answer that's not overly technical. Many thanks

    Hey Buddy.

Basically, whatever voltage you put into the FBL unit from either a BEC or LiPo, is what goes out to the servos. So far there is no FBL with inbuilt BEC that can be set to specific voltages.

As Ian says the voltage out of the FBL will be exactly the same as the voltage that you supply.

if this is just one servo, quite common for older tail servos to be speced at 4.8v, you can use the Futaba P-RPS01 servo regulator between the FBL and this servo.

      hope this helps.

The Align one is a bit cheaper.

          Hey buddy.

Sorry I didn't read you had a servo rated to 4.8 volts.
Bear in mind this servo will have been rated for use on 4 cell NiCad/NiMh packs that fully charged output 6 volts, albeit for a very short time.
A single servo voltage dropper will fix the issue, but choose a good one, as sadly some of the more simple ones can suffer mechancel failure through vibration if not we'll supported.

Out of interest what servo make and type is it? As in recent times some 4.8 volt only servos were re-rated to be able to take 6 volts.

Many thanks for the quick replies. The servo is JR 6800g and after reading on the net this is quite specific so
voltage regulator needs to be inserted even if used with a battery pack. Thanks again for the very good info.
