  • Fragile to indestructable

Last year I bought 2 Blade 500's and converted them to FBL but never really cracked flying .I am trying again with a 200 SRX and have done everything you can imagine to destroy it but despite all its going strong .I found that a hard landing breaks the skid which breaks the main frame so once I built a flexible one out of tie wraps and a some rawl plug tube with a bit of 2mm theaded rod though it , no more breakages. I used a bit of gutter cover as a battery tray in the skid so no more fiddly canopy removal.

I lost it for a week in a tree top 10 metres up and had ti make a telescopic plastic pole to knock it down and despite being there during a couple of stormy rainy days it still goes well including the battery that was with it. Another day it got away and I just dropped it from about 200ft.and it still goes fine.

It does have a lot of glue here and there but so what. People reckon these 200's are fragile , just make a wider flexible skid and try again.

I will try and put a couple of pics on, looks rubbish but fly's brilliant

That is brilliant. Had a similar problem with a 450 up a tree. Took me a couple of weeks to get it down. The problem I had was the pole was so long
I made it became to heavy to lift lol. Worked it out in the end with aluminium scaffold pole tied to wooden dowel which in turn had a number of cane lengths
tied together. That did the trick but I still had to stand on top of a 15 foot ladder set up. Good fun especially when your nearly 70 years of age. My neighbours think
I'm nuts. Could be right lol. Keep at it. I did and still fly terrible lol. One day I will get there.

I thought I was the only 70 year old mad enough but obviously not gets in your blood doesn't it. I fly in a field surrounded by tall trees so thinking of buying a factory made telescopic flag pole on ebay. You can just slide it up. Must say people do give you a strange look though
