  • Blade Receiver on another make of helicopter?

    Hey all

Forgive me for a noob question, but can I put a Blade receiver that works with my Spektrum DX6i on another make of helicopter? For example I have a Skyartec Wasp Nano CPX that uses their own proprietary NASA 701 transmitter - could I put a receiver on it that would work with the Spektrum DX6i?

    If so, how?

    TIA

It depends. On larger 'hobby grade' helis no problem, you can easily transfer a receiver from heli to heli as long as it has enough channels.

On the other hand on micro helis and some of the cheaper 'toy grade' larger helis it's usually not possible or at least not easy. These helis usually have receivers integrated with the flybarless controller and ESC (and sometimes even servos) all on the same circuit board. These integrated units are specific to the individual heli and would not work on other helis.

As Grumpy says, "Blade" receivers are in fact mostly Spektrum receivers. Spektrum and Blade both being brands of the parent company, Horizon Hobby. You can see the current range of Spektrum RX's here : https://www.spektrumrc.com/Air/Receivers.aspx

Not surprisingly - all are compatible with the Spektrum DX6i. But as mentioned above, the micro-size ones tend to be designed around a specific Blade heli.

Ah thanks guys. Probably not possible then.

I wonder, I have a couple of spare MCPX main boards, could I, assuming I can solder the correct connectors on to the servos and motors, swap the board of the Skyartec heli and put the MCPX one in it's place - or am I looking at too much work?

Just wondering because I'm fed up with having 2 transmitters.

Yeah far too much work for little reward, better to just buy a Blade Nano instead.

As above unless you want to tinker for the sake of tinkering.

I have a Walkera 52, which I converted to Spektrum. It was my very first CP heli back in 2006 and I've kept it for memory's sake. When I converted it there was no all-in-1 Spektrum board so I used an Eflite 2-in-1 to control the tail motor and separate main ESC and Rx.
