I think if my first ever heli was a 600 or 700 I would have spent a LOT more than £12 up until now.

Fair point!... Some bad experiences with micros have left me with a bitter taste, but I know some people love em.. Whatever floats your boat.

I'm sure I will upgrade fairly quickly, cause I'm like that, but for now this tiny little thing that seems to bounce quite well is perfect - just a bit annoying that it's faulty. Still, I've learnt some things with the fault finding.

You are right of course, micros are a great way to get some practice in, safely and without too big an investment.. But they do tend to be troublesome and frustrating.

LOL! It's like nobody has ever had a problem with their 700 setup.

Speaking from personal experience micros are orders of magnitude more frustrating and troublesome. Of course that's not to say that the big ones don't have problems occasionally, and yes they do cost more to fix when they do. Anyway, this is well off topic because i'm not for a minute suggesting tbourner runs out an gets 700... I was just pointing out that in my experience micros do go wrong quite often and need a lot of attention to keep in flying order.

Aaw that was my next step.
                Actually, I was thinking a 230S next.

But isn't your negative experience based on one of those dubious Trex 150s?
Not all modern micros are hard work. I have had very little trouble with mine. The 180 CFX in particular is one of the easiest helis to work on and flies great for such a small size. The only micro I've ever had any grief with is my 130X Red Bull and even that isn't too bad and flies quite nicely. It's just a bit fiddly to remove/fit the scale body and fragile tail mechanics. I had no issues with my mCPX V2 either, it was very reliable. From what I read on here and other forums, all RC helis have the potential to be frustrating to both own and run! Micros have their pros and cons just the same and some models are definitely better than others.

Sometimes I wonder why you post on micro threads like this? Trying to convince yourself not to try one again perhaps?

Just sharing my opinions and experience like anyone else. It would be a very one sided view if only the cheerleaders were ever heard from.

Like i said, a micro is a good heli for tbourner to have at this stage, I'm not disputing that. All i was doing is pointing out that with CP micros regular attention is often required. And yes, my opinion is admittedly somewhat jaundiced by that little POS Trex 150... And no, I dont need any convincing not to ever try one again!

Fair enough, but I don't think you are helping the OP much here by just gloating about how hassle free large helis are (as if!) It's not like he asked for an opinion about micro vs larger helis. He just has a specific problem to solve, like people do with helis of all shapes and sizes. If someone posted about their 700 going up in smoke due to a big crash and burn lipo fire, I don't think I'd be very welcome popping up just to say that micros are great because 9/10 times you can just pick them up and carry on flying.
