blade 550x info

Any body got or owned a blade 550x.
Any info would be most useful.
From flying it to the building of it.

I would suggest using a 120a esc,castle 120 or Yep 120hv are both good

I had one for ages - bought it when they came out. I've changed to a Logo 550SX these days but I still miss the Blade a bit. It really is a truly under-rated heli. It goes together very well and has excellent flight characteristics. It's slightly heavy if I'm honest for a 550 as in reality it's a cut-down Blade 600X (albeit they released the 550 first). You have to keep the (5000mah) LIPO far forwards to ensure CoG too.

My setup was semi-stock - Spektrum servos and eFlite motor. However I used a Castle 130A Edge ESC and a Spartan Vortex FBL.

Build-wise it has to be one of the easiest helis to build - certainly easier than an Align or a Logo IMO (having built all three!). There really are no "gotchas" to tricks to know - it simply goes together easily.

Actually just remembered this... I posted a (small) mod on helifreak that ensured the canopy didn't foul the cyclic servo arms. Otherwise they come quite close and the canopy quality was the only real fly in the ointment for the 550x. This simple mod fixed that though - and Fusuno made much better canopies!
