mCPX V2 is not a bad call. That was my first cp heli after a small quad and I got on just fine with it. If you can genuinely fly your quad with all the stability aids turned off, then you won't have a problem with a small cp heli. Just use plenty of expo on your Tx with micros otherwise they can be oversensitive. I found the biggest difference between my nano QX quad and mCPX V2 was that the latter is a lot less precise i.e. the controls feel a bit mushy in comparison and you really notice the tail rotor effect in slow left and right handed turns i.e. it naturally leans into RH turns, but you have to fight against it in LH turns. Rudder rates are much faster on helis too, quads are usually pretty slow in piros by comparison.

Yet another option for you is the little nano CP-S, which looks like it could be good for in-house training. Also has a rescue function like the much bigger 230S.

If you're interested I also have an mCPX V2 and/or a Blade 450 3D I could sell you. PM me if you're interested in either. I wasn't planning on selling them, but they're both gathering dust right now!

I have just got back into flying Heli's again after a long break off.. I got back into it like yourself starting with a drone. Had a little Hubsan X4 and it helped me a lot! The fact I could fly it indoors was a bonus. Helped me lots with learning orientation and hovering nose in.

I started with a Blade 300 and found it a bit of a handful. Very sensitive from the manual settings. I had to cut the rates down a bit and add some more expo. My friend has a Blade 450 3D which he learnt to fly on and let me have a go. I found that much better. Still a bit sensitive but just going up that extra size I found it a bit easier.

Another guy in our Club has a Blade 450 which took him straight to the big Heli's after plenty of practice.

The other thing to remember is if your planning to fly outside the bigger Heli's will be more stable... My 300 isn't great in the wind!

      Hope this helps!

Thank you Dan, I will get a 450 sometime along the line. Overspent but have ordered the Mcpx v2, mcpx bl and the MSRX so once I get more funds then I think I will get the 450 3D

Foggy, the msrx was my first heli and it was 2 years ago today I found it under the Christmas tree. It still gets a regular outing and the rest, as they say, is history. To answer the question in the Thread title, 'quads, without any doubt'. Happy Christmas.
