  • Help needed Trex 600

Hi I have just got my self a trex 600 and I haven't a clue how to set it up especially the ALIGN 3GX Programmable Flybarless System
the last time I flew a helicopter it was a concept 30 that was just out lol
so a long time ago sad to say but I fancy a go again so in need of someone that's good to the point they can set it up to 3d so if I ever get that far its ready
I fly with a JR DSX9 so anyone around the Shropshire area that could help would be much appreciated can text or call me by pm and I can call you back
    thanks in advance
    Simon

Hi Simon, welcome to the forum. I would go it alone from a setting up point of view and then get someone to check it over, you'll learn so much more about it. Theres loads of setup videos on youtube and loads of help on here. Chuck the questions up and we'll get you going

I must be an oddbod as I cant be doing with asking loads when I can go give someone a hand and sort it and go through it with them
been teaching fixed wing for over 36 and building and fixing planes for as long
much sooner hands on rather than asking and getting loads off different answers
                  we will see

I'm the other type of oddbod I'd rather work something out for myself and then when stuck or it doesn't make sense ask relevant questions. I'm sure someone nearby will give you a hand, you've got a club local to you where a few members on here Rachel, Pulsar and Joe Bailey frequent. I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

Well be kinda dull if we were all the same
Me I think I am to impatient and cant be A***D to wait
I like to get things done
But fingers crossed there is someone my neck off the woods that can give me a hand :-)

The 3GX isn't the most intuitive of FBL controllers to set up (that's an understatement) so it would be a lot less painful to get some help. A lot of people will tell you to throw the 3GX away and put in something different but the 3GX can work well enough once properly tweaked, but without help it could be a frustrating process.

What version of the Trex 600 is it? (there are a few different versions).
Goblin Kraken, SoXos Strike 7, XLPower Specter, Goblin Black Thunder T, Goblin 700 Speed, Goblin 770 Comp Carbon, Trex 700X, Kasama Dune, Henseleit TDR

To be honest that's not strictly true (about the setup as it's very straight forward), if you follow the freddy can fly videos it won't take long to setup and fly successfully. My first FBL was a 3GX on a nitro Trex 600n and I used the Freddy can fly video and all went well. I've setup about 10 models on 3GX's and they all flew just fine out the box.

Waveydavey is right, you learn more by having a go, not to mention the feeling of satisfaction when it fly's spot on!

Well it's all a matter of opinion. I've set up several of them and after the first few setups I was happy enough with the process......until I tried a Vbar, which is immeasurably easier and more intuitive. With a genuinely intuitive setup you don't need Freddy videos because the software itself tells you all you need to know in a simple to follow way.

The other tricky thing about the 3GX is that the default settings don't work very well on many helis, so you need to know the little tricks and tweaks to get them flying half decently. Also I'd advise not to update to V5 firmware in the 3GX. The gain values were turned way down in V5 and even with the adjustment pots maxed out i could never get enough head gain for larger helis. V4 was much better.
