  • Looking for a reputable Heli supplier???

    Afternoon all.
I hope you are all well.

Im looking for a decent reputable model shop that sells RC Helicopters in my local area.
Im all for buying online etc but want to visit a shop and see whats out there. Im reading various threads about all makes and models on here then disapearing off to utube to have a look at them in action but that is it. I want to go to a shop and see these things in the flesh.
    Any recommendations please?
    Herts,Beds and Bucks area idealy.
I dont mind a road trip.

Most high street model shops know next nothing about helicopters. You'd be far better off visiting a heli club, get good advice, and then order online. You could also get advice online here

If you are up for a road trip then I'd say either head south to Raj at Align-Trex in Slough, or head north to Midland, at Hinkley. Both are about a 90 min drive from you.

I would recommend going to see RCheliguru in Milton Keynes which is not too far away for you. This is the website below, shop address is in contacts. But call before you go to make sure they are open. They are on an industrial park, not high street.

RCheliGURU online discount supplier of RC HELICOPTERS MULTICOPTERS & ACCESSORIES - RCheliGURU.co.UK
SAB Goblin 380 KSE - latest love thang
Lynx OXY 3 - my mini flagship!
Blade 180 CFX - field beater for new moves
Blade Red Bull BO-105 CB 130 X - scale fun flying at the field when the tail isn't broken, which is not often.
        Blade mCPX - sold

Blade Nano QX - house fly of choice
Blade mCX2 - retired but will be back when the kids get a bit bigger

        Spektrum DX8 - for everything
        ne
Xt sim - the sim I started out with
Heli-X sim - my new favourite sim!

In terms of "real life" heli shop, I've only ever been to Midland Helicopters (New Arrivals | Midland Helicopters Ltd) who run a good little store. Generally speaking though, the major AND REPUTABLE dealers that I use are mainly online only - although you can visit some, which are :-

          Midland helis (as mentioned above)
Align-trex.co.uk (in Slough - already mentioned in this thread)
Fast-lad.co.uk (up North somewhere, way, way, way beyond the M5)
RC-hero.co.uk (online only, but VERY good and very reputable. The main man, Kyle is at most of the major UK events)

In this hobby, online does not necessarily mean bad - but you do need to know who to call, and who to avoid. The ones above are definitely trustworthy and run by guys who know and care about this hobby!

Another 1 for RC HeliGuru, as above call to see if Johnathan is in and let him know what you're interested in. The other one would be Midlands in Hinckley, not a bad run from Bedford, about an hour

Well worth visiting a club first otherwise you get seduced by helis and the coffee machine at Midland!
you are spoils for choice around Bedford MK club near Northampton or Central Model Helicopter Club near Husbands Bosworth. and others!
              Central Model Heli Club. #keeprchelisalive

Yes I found Jonathan to be very helpful. I bought my first heli and Tx from him last winter. He doesn't stock as much stuff as some of the other online dealers, but it's a good place to visit and get sound advice. When you start considering things like a decent Tx, you really need to hold them and make sure they are comfortable.

In my experience with J, even if he hasn't got it, if you're set on something he will do his best to get it for you and normally with a discount

By All means go to dealers and shops but dont buy before you visit a club and talk to the members there. theres a lot more to it than just buying helis. Theres setting up and programming this and that. And it leaves me baffled a lot of the time.
Your club will tell you whats best to but if your a beginner and (like me) you might even have someone there who wants to sell one cheap and whioch you will have the back up of someone who knows the machine.
I got most of my fleet from people a my club at a reasonable proce and you often get extras thrown in if they are moving onto a different make or type as they want rid and need the space

Thanks for the replies everyone. Im going to try and get to the club in MK at some point. Im not in a rush to buy anything as yet as im still learning and the heli i have is still serving me well. Just wanted to take a look and see whats out there.
