First "flight" of 450

Hi. so as you may know, im new to helis, i have an MCPX but only got it recently and cant fly it properly yet, but i got a trex 450 plus anyway
so i plucked up the courage to take it out..I can't even hover it yet but you gotta start somewhere right

it went OK.. i just thought id post a short vid so you can give any tips to me or just track my progress

also, as Members of this forum were kind enough to help me out like Andy Mc with the K-Bar and GIXERMAN for his invaluable Phone call setting it up. I thought you might to see the results.

i would say your doing ok. but just calm down a little try and keep the helicopter in one place and hover.
if it gets away from you put it down and start again.
and don't go to high as there will be more damage, until your comfortable hovering.

Yes Brian will do, it was a tad windy today, so that made it all the more nerveracking , i will hopefully improve soon
The K-bar seems to work pretty well, thankfully ..

Just to add to Brian's advise once you've mastered the controlled height hovers your then be ready for the Glasgow winds

Good first effort indeed! As said, try to concentrate on keeping a steady tail in hover on the spot at a fixed height (about eye level or a little lower). Once you can do that, you can then start slowly moving it about a bit and then bringing it back to centre (all still with tail in orientation). Then start working on hovering with the tail rotated at a slight angle to start getting a feel for side on orientation. But don't push it too far in one step! Lots of sim time helps in the early stages too.

thanks, i will do, clearly i got a bit carried away, I will practice hovering as you guys say..

i do use phoenix sim but i cant help feeling that the real thing is far more productive.. i guess because crashing a sim has no consequences .. but yes, i Will work on the sim more..after all, i cant do me any harm to get extra practice in, the weather up here recently has not been conducive to flying anything

Also forgot to mention to make sure you stand still in one spot while flying. I noticed at the end that you were slowly walking after the heli as it was flying away from you. Once you get better at hovering on the spot it will be less tempting to start chasing it around the field!
