I'm with you there, I'm a sucker for snacks :-D

Seriously though it sounds like a decent deal, and if you're able to do inverted hovers in the sim a 450 is very likely a better option for you than a micro. For landing, just get it into a stable tail in hover, helicopters are all about hovering, that's your default safe option. Once you're in a hover you can slowly drift it anywhere you need, and then lower it down for the landing.

I should just say that Ben seems to be a very quick learner, He's able to fly fixed wing circuits after only 7-10 or so flights, though some of the landings have been "eventful" (Fuz snapped in half!) but he has a WOT4 foame so a very easy fix. I think he'll pick up flying helis very quickly, especially now that I steered him in the direction of a bargain phoenix off Boggy!

What's wrong with a Spektrum radio? They are regularly recommended here.

Hey guys. I started out with my Trex nitro but it was practising with my MCPX in my living room that gave me the confidence to ditch my training under carriage. I found a little bit of DR n expo helps a lot. I've got a DX8 and love it. Reasonably priced, easy to use and loads of support and advice online if you need it.

I think, if you've got time, patience, and a steady hand, you can learn on whatever you want within reason. I have limited time at my local field so I got the MCPX for use at home to get the stick time.

Nothing at all. I'm very happy with my DX8. But some people just don't like Spektrum.

Oh ok, I thought there might be particular issue. Still, it's early days for me anyway. Later on I might understand weaknesses of certain radios.

It's BMW v Audi, Microsoft v Apple. FWIW, all my helis from a 180cfx through to my Goblins and 700's fly using a Spektrum DX8 and have done for quite a few years.

It's true what Tom says. Some people have their favourite radio and won't use anything else. I chose Spektrum mainly because of my Blade micros and just stuck with it because I had no issues. You can spend a fortune on radios if you get carried away.

I use Spektrum for helis and Futaba for planes, Futaba is a much nicer feel and higher quality but Spektrum is just so easy to use with flybarless systems. I would consider JR though as a top contender going forward they have some nice transmitters now.
