It does seem that the power supplies can be more expensive than the chargers !

Is it okay to but a good charger, say the iCharger 306B which is 1000W, but save a bit for now and get a 350W power supply to go with it. Then at a later date when funds are up again I could sell the P.S. ad get a bigger one.
Or should you really get a P.S. at least as big as the charger?

Other thought is can you parallel the power supplies and so add to it later ?

I have been told not to go for chargers with inbuilt P.S. but although not particularly powerful what about this ?

Yes, you could get a smaller power supply, but you would have to be very careful not to fry it! Probably better to just bite the bullet and get one that properly matches the charger in the first place. Send a pm to Coolice and I'm sure he will be able to sort you out.
I think the advice to avoid built-in power supplies was good this time The one you linked to is only 50W per channel and for a modest 1C charge rate you need more like 75W for each of your 3000 mAh 6S batteries. It will work but will be very slow to charge. So for example if you wanted to charge 4 of those batteries together at a standard 1C charge rate, you would need a charger with at least 300W total and 12A total current capacity. In your shoes I'd go for the 1000W iCharger 306B and then you could charge half a dozen of these batteries at a time without any concern.

Yes I think you are right.
I have sent a PM to Coolice to see what he suggests, just thought I would have a look around for a cheaper option if I couldn't afford just yet then get a proper one built when funds become replenished.

Receieved my DX9 and my Nano QX yesterday.
Had loads of fun.
Also bought a Blade mCPX to progress onto before I go onto the bigger stuff as I still plan to get the T Rex 500L and all the extra bits needed to get going in electric (how I will keep a straight face when I tell the wife I got it all for under £500 I do not know ).

The new Tx is incredible. As I said in previous posts I had a really neat computerized Tx nearly 20 years ago and paid a fortune for it, but still spent hours tuning in all the curves and parameters etc to get the model to fly just right, this sometimes went on for weeks until I was happy.
Now I am not saying the little bits of tweaking will not still go on until I am perfectly happy but to just download a *.spm file from the manufacturers website and then upload to Tx and have a model that flies straight off is absolutely brilliant.

I know I have a way to go and a lot of practice hours yet as I am basically still flying something very easy but once again thanks to all on this forum for their time to help me and answer my questions.

Don't underestimate the nQX. Put it in agility mode with 100% rates and it's as hard to fly as anything out there. It's great for developing your reflexes. Once I got comfortable flying it fast in agility mode I found upright flight on CP helis a breeze. The mCPX is good too, but much better outdoors with a bit more space. I guarantee once you can fly both these micros confidently, you will have no problem at all with your 500. Says he who hasn't actually flown anything bigger than a 180 CFX in reality!
