Also worth a try, it makes perfect sense. Something just like this could just be the answer, thanks

Hi Martin as a fellow learner (52!!) who doesnt us a sim and flys a 500 fbl with FU bar onboard, I have progress by just increasing my flying time and flying in all conditions as in this country the perfect day only happens once or twice a month. Yes I have gone in on a few occasions but the 500 is reasonable for repair costs and using slight second blades from align last pair £11 saves some money. I also had someone buddy me and this works if you fly high enough to give them time to save it, but you need someone else at the field to do this!! I also fly a 180cfx indoor and outdoors as they a good in most conditions and cheap to repair as well!! It has taken me about 12 months to get to doing a figure 7 and 1/2 not quite got to the 8, but I have progress over the last month just because I have got out there and flown ever chance I have had on an evening and week end. Keep it going and so long as you have a smile on your face its worth doing, and dont forget no pain no gain and in this hobby it does hurt everyone !!
        cheers Tigeral

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what an FU is but I think it might be what the bloke who invented Rc helis thought of me. I think at 68 I may be just stretching it a bit but I was a crane driver for 45 years and the reactions are still reasonable, everybody is a bit younger than me but as that chap said, could be to my advantage.
Nice to hear you are getting there in similar fashion , I am out at 7am and usually back repairing it by 9 for another go , plenty of pain
