  • Landing on the ceiling...

Well, it's been just a little bit too windy for me this week (I flew the 550 on Monday but had a few close encounters with the grass) so decided to revisit my sick Nano cpx.
The BL conversion (the E-Flight kit) has never worked so I put the stock coreless motor back in and that seemed ok. Also discovered the tail boom was split so stuck a spare msrx boom in its place (a tiny bit smaller diameter but coating the ends in CA and letting it dry seemed to do the trick).
So, my first real attempt at inverting any heli in a small place (my lounge) was quite interesting. I figured out that if I fly near the window I have enough space in the room to perform an aileron roll to inverted landing me roughly in the middle of the room. Ok, so quite a few of these attempts end up in the carpet or on the sofa but I'm getting better at it. So on one attempt (I was holding a nice tail-in inverted hover) I decided to try a ceiling landing - although it went well I wouldn't say it looked like it had landed - more like it was 'squatting' or trying to relieve itself! I guess those flimsy skids do funny things when squashed into the ceiling!
Well I was well chuffed anyway. Now I'll have to try an do it again whilst getting someone to video it so it can join all the other pointless videos of ceiling landings on the internet...

Does this mean I should officially moves myself out of the 'Beginners' section of the forum now?!

Wonder what other mischief everyone else is up to whilst we wait for the wind to drop a little?

Well I am reading posts on Heli Addicts hoping against hope for wind to drop so I can carry on working to improve my flying in the real world outside of sim-land!!
