  • Reducing the noise and smoke on IC Models

I am about to buy a Raptor 50 Titan V3. I belive that it is going to be provided to me with an OS 50 engine.

The one thing I dislike about IC Helicopters is the screaming engine noise and plumes of white smoke. I undestand that the engines are 2 stroke which means they are genrally high revving. Can you get silencers for the engines and is there anyway of reducing the amount of smoke that is pumped out.

    Regards,

Smoke would depend on the type of fuel your using and how rich you are running the engine.
Generally using a muffler of somesort will give you less power put will quieten the noise down. Alot of the time you will get a standard one with the kit. Pipes/tuned mufflers are what you wont want as these dont contain baffles and allow more air access. These are generally louder.

The noise and the smoke is part of the fun, if you remove these then your talking electric.

as Lee says the amount of smoke will depend primerily on the type of fuel you use some fuels smoke more than others, some people like the smoke.

on my 50's ive used Zimmerman, Hatori and Mp5 each sound differently. I dont like the zimmerman I find it hard to get them to tune properly, out of the hatori and the MP5 the MP5 appears quieter, although this may not be the case it may only be the note of the exhaust that is not quite so piercing.

with a raptor and the standard raptor canopy youll struggle to find tuned pipes to fit without having to cut the canopy I think your limited to the standard muffler and the zimmerman, if you swap to one of the new shaped 3D canopys then all of them will fit without any problems.
      All the best
