  • Took the plunge

After a lot of tinkering swopping parts etc I shelved my msr, still wouldn't lift,

looking around for replacement indoor heli, I bought a blade 120sr as an upgrade for a twister (long story)..must say it was the best thing I done, as I got to grips with it straight away, on a beginner level, it has really helped me with flying 200srx,

as I am in a state of heli acquisition syndrome I am now the proud owner of a blade 450x I know it will be like starting over but I am really enjoying the buzz,

looking forward to first hover (baby steps)

I have to say I agree

Have now bought a Blade 120SR, MSR and an MCX plus a Dx6i as well as the King 2 and the Hubsan 4. I only got into this at Christmas when the wife bought me a Silverlit Nano Falcon, but one of the motors since stopped working on that one. I just need to find he time to fly them now and get learning the skills as well.

Shame the msr didn't work out for you, but sounds like you're back on track. I'm looking forward to hearing about your maiden 450X flight. That's the size I'm going to progress to next, but will wait a couple more months while I get more air time on my micro CP helis. I just hope they stay reliable enough!

You mean you won't be bringing your shiny new 450 down tonight?!
The 120SR looks quite a nice little heli - like a relaxed mcpx.
I'll be there tonight but no 450 or 180 as both are currently in need of some work.
Did my first ever inverted hover on the mcpx yesterday - a bit messy but proved to myself that it is possible to hover upside down (a mental barrier I had been struggling to take from sim to real life).
So, if you are going tonight should be lots of crashes from my area of the room this evening....

Well done Chris. How hard was it compared to the sim? I can flip inverted and back again okay on the sim, but was wondering if it was much harder in reality, especially with a micro? However, my inverted orientations are nowhere right now, so not going to try it for real anytime soon!

yes tom is a bit of a bug let loose,

I am sure you will take to 120sr no probs, I wish I started out with it,

I find it so relaxing to fly, and once trimmed very steady when hovering, one thing I found on ccw circuits it needs a little aileron to stop it stalling...

It was similar, but the mcpx (cored not brushless) looses some power when switching pitch and this does cause it to head off in one direction once you try and hover inverted. My orientations are only just starting to be good enough - I think another week of solid sim practice and I should be able to hold it in a tighter area. I tried again tonight in the indoor club and wasn't quite enough room (wall to one side and a mcpx liquidiser (aka a 450) to the other side) so I bought it back upright after only 5 seconds (and then crashed due to nerves!).

yes it wasn't for the lack of trying, but hey ho that's the way it goes,

with 450 I will tread slow but sure, I will just dial in soft setting to get me in the air,
