  • Lama v3

    Hi,

Guess what, yes i'm new here. Can anyone help me. The heli bug has really got me just using the lama v3. I have just got the Belt CP and having so much more fun.

I have upgraded the lama v3 with the CNC metal upgrade and now it will not fly above 2 foot of the ground on a full battery. Blades are on the correct way and everything else looks okay. Has anyone got any ideas why this has happened.

    Thanks in advance

Have seen the same kinda problem on a medevac and it was that the metal swash which was taller and causing binding, might be worth checking.

Just a thought, have you done your upgrade because you binned it?

Checked swash plate and it looks fine.

I upgraded it because I was sick of buying new plastic parts and thought that the metal parts may last a little longer as my son is showing interest in flying it.

      Thanks,

This has had some discussion on here and I had a problem with my medevac which would only gain lift for the first 30 seconds or so of a newly charged battery, it was the 4 in 1 control failing and this could well be your problem. If you have no binding of main shafts, swash etc and the blades are all good then it is most likely to be a control or battery but most like the control unit failing IMO.

          Welcome to the forum mate.

Check if theres any slop on the shafts, basically hold the outer shaft between the two sets of rota and see if theres any movement, if there is take the body off, loosen the collar under the swash plate then push the lower gear cogs up as far as there go then lower the collar and tighten.

I know on the CX2 theres a little copper washer that sits on between the first cog and the bearing inside the main body when replacing shafts, I can't see that cause that much drag on the motors even if you left it off?

Do the rotas move freely by hand, as something is clearly biting and lowering the power drastically.

            Hi,

Thanks for all your help on this, I think I have found the problem. The innner shaft is longer than the previous one and looks as though it is rubbing on the battery located below it. Will have to get the hacksaw and cut a piece off. Everything else is nice and tight and the rotors move very freely.

            Thanks again

If I was you I'd contact the seller who sold you the inner shaft and ask for a replacement.

I've never heard of a shaft having to be cut to fit.

Just a quick thought, you did place the upper bearing on the outer shaft once you put it all back together?

Just a thought, as this is a weired turn out having a shaft that's too long.

Yes, all the bearings are in place, the parts did come from Hong Kong on the cheap so that may be the problem.

mmm I just received my cnc upgrade kit today (should be the same one), I will let you know if it fits and works ok! one thing to check may be if the brass ring in the centre of the swash plate spins freely. Also loosen the allen key nut which holds the top on the centre shaft amd make sure it is puched all the way up, re-tighten as it would effectivley shorten the shaft!
