Sounds like Stretch79 has a motor or ESC problem. No power = no bailout.

Otherwise, bailout (on any heli that has it) only works if you remember to hit the switch! Flying high enough to give yourself time to react is a wise tactic!

Ah I see his other thread now. Yeah I guess total power loss is not likely to end well! Having gained a lot of confidence with the sim and micros over the last month, I'm not sure I would benefit much from a bailout function now. If there was enough reaction time to actually use it I would probably have enough time to avoid the crash anyway.

My reactions are quick but as tom said. Motor cuts I've had it regardless of save switch. Also think it works better on intermediate as it's not really needed for beginner stage now anyway. Mines been mechanical and electronic

Sometimes you just lose orientation and you can't recover it yourself. The bailout on the goblin has saved me one crash. Didn't manage to press the button in time for the second.

+1 It's amazing how the brain just freezes sometimes when you're panicking. Things that seem trivially easy on the sim or with a small heli suddenly become almost impossible when you're watching a large CP heli scream towards terra firma at a rate of knots!

Classic example ... obviously fairly confident pilot makes minor error when nose-in. In a flash he's panicked, "dropped the throttle" (ie. given it loads of negative collective) and smashed it into the ground. You can bet that on the sim, he would have saved that.

I got a bit too confident Saturday, was doing a circuit misjudged the turn and bashed into the house, canopy holed, end of landing gear broke, and support for tail boom broke, all fixed or should I say bodged, wont put kit from spare srx on until I get better,

saying that tonight I had the best session yet, two batteries and no mishaps..... as you say happy days

no tom I thought I am bound to do more damage so using first srx as spare,

You will misjudge turns when you're learning. That wasn't your mistake ... Flying near a large, solid, immobile object however ....
