    Thanks umox,

ive had that feeling already haha. I think part of the problem is that. It's 2nd hand off eBay AND a pain in the ass model haha. I'll stick with it just now, am waiting on some cables coming to start using a sim also. However, did you by your tree 2nd hand? Am reluctant to spend a fortune buying a brand new one straight away until I know the basics. That said, I feel am learning a lot about helis in general with having problems with this one so in that respect it might work out well in the future.

my aim is to get it going and post a video on here of my success and give myself a pat on the back .......................... I hope hahah

Sim + micro will provide you with many hours of practice without any of the hassle you are currently having. Plus by the time you finally get this one in the air you'll probably find you can fly it quite well. If you got it flying today, in all probability, you'd be having to fix it again within a minute or two of flying time.

I did exactly the same. I bought a ~20 year old Kyosho Concept 50 off eBay, I'd found a local flying club and wanted a larger model, but wasn't prepared to splash out big money until I'd decided if this hobby was for me. It was an utter nightmare, I got less than 5 minutes flight time in total after an entire year working on the damn thing.

Bought a second hand Trex 600N off a club member a year later, and loved it.

I don't regret that early purchase though, I learnt a ton stripping that down and rebuilding it, and didn't risk a lot of cash in the process. The frustration of dealing with it also taught me a ton of patience, which is vital in this hobby (rushing stuff gets expensive fast), and I'd put in so much time on the sim and my mCPX BL that by the time I got the 600N I was flying 3D on the very first day I got it in the air.

I remember the guys at the club telling me that I probably wouldn't need 30% nitro for my 600N, then after my first few flights telling me that I'd better stick with the 30% as I'd probably cook it with anything less :-D

That's kind of how I'm hoping things will go for me! Just got hold of a mCPX as my next micro step and already ploughed in a lot of time on the sim and other micros.

The nanoQX is a good little quad for indoor fun and learning orientations, but if you want a heli - checkout the above.

OK so been having a look around (Am not giving up on the King 2!) am currently watching a Blade 120SR on eBay, also comes with a DX6i Tx, so will see what price it comes to, it's got 7 days left yet. Will see.............

So I started one month ago with a Nano QX for indoor and a Sim, played with both before taking a 200 SRX outside and it made such a difference, I’m glad I spent time on the Nano and sim, yes I crashed the 200 but that was been silly and yes I have lost one 200 SRX that’s still a very painful blur but I have a new one and hope to get out today if it stops raining! As soon as I am really top notch on the 200 I will hold back on the collective pitch but can’t wait!

LOL Bluenose75 - i replied to an earlier post about the 200 SRX loss () , agree with your comment, do sim time (alot) and 200 SRX, great learning combination at a great price, the CP helis are defo a step further up the line after a good few hours on the sim and hopefully being in a club with supportive members

                  Soooo,

Awaiting delivery of a Blade 120SR with a Spektrum DX6i Tx. Off eBay but looks good. Unfortunately am off to work again on Sunday for 4 weeks so won't see it till the end of the month! However, I have Phoenix on the laptop and will take my current basic Tx with me as I knwo I can actually lift the Blade off the ground on the sim, unlike the King 2, it just goes where it wants just now! :-)

Update on the King 2, I seem to have solved the out of control rotation problem, now it seems to want to go backward and veer off to the right as soon as it comes off the ground ggggrrrr, similar on the sim actually, so LOTS of crashes on there and not had the balls to keep it going for real, as soon as it goes I've been dropping it back down and trying again.

Fair play that you're sticking at it with the King! The 120SR and sim should give you the stick time you really need to progress.

                      Thanks Pete,

well ill lifes no fun without a challenge right? Hhhmmm sometimes things working out would be nice haha.

ill keep going for a while, my trouble is I work away abroad a lot,Nike now am away for a month inSweden and when I get home it's family time with wife and 2 and half yr old daughter so don't get as much time to play as others. I expected a bollocking when I bought my Hubsan x4 but wife was cool with it, quite mesmerised with the LEDs flying and zooming across the living room, out of control of course. I did cut my arm when I crashed into myself! And have since bottomed out a motor, I only had it 2 days haha. Whoever said getting a small quadntonhelpmwith orientation was absolutely spot on as its really help even withing the couple of days I was playing with it.

still waiting on the blade as there's been an issue with PayPal but as I said before I wont see it till I get back home at end of month anyways.

Sorry, forgot to mention for any other beginnersreading this, I was advised to buy a "lazy Susan" which I did and secured the king 2 to and that was the key to fixing the tail issue. I was able to, using trial and error, adjust the tail servo until it stopped spinning round, then I tried it outside and didn't spin until I applied the control so it's a good recommendation to any other newbies.

Yeah, the little quads are great for practising indoors. I have the Blade Nano QX (about the same size as the Hubsan X4 but about half the weight and twice the price!). For me it's been the best learning tool and so far zero maintenance after 300+ flights. I've found progressing to CP helis actually quite painless after mastering the little quad, plus a load of sim time too. But I've found that the micro CP helis need a lot of loving to keep them flying well, which does limit their flying time and they are a lot less furniture friendly in the house! All good fun
