  • Recommended books for beginners

Hi and thanks for reading my post

Just getting into this new and exiting hobby at the age of 59 and off to the local club thursday night.

I,m the kind of person who lokes to read books on the subject I am getting into. I need to know what all the terms and buzz words you guys on here are on about for a start as well as the techical stuff and so can anyone recommend any good books on RC Helicopers. I dont mind how technical they are and plenty of drawings etc.

Its just the way i like to learn - as well as meeting people and actually flying of course.

    Thanks
    Phill

i wouldn't bother with published books Phill....they're all really outdated now. this forum, internet, youtube etc are much better ways to read & learn but your local club will be your best bet.

      enjoy and happy flying.

if you want books rather than forums to read there are a couple of monthly magazines at least they will be talking about the latest developments as things have changed very quickly in this hobby. 3-4 years ago the vast majority of people flew flybarred helis, now its almost exclusively flybarless.

so equipment and setup has change significantly.

Rotor world and Model Helicopter World magazine both are pretty good, and usually available in the bigger WH smiths as well as alot of the model shops.
            All the best
            Tony.
            Thunder Tiger E700 - Align 700N - Fusion 50 - Align 600N

Thanks Guys. No substitute for experience I know just something to browse with the cat on your lap and a glass of Pimms you know

                  Phil,

There are heaps of links to some good online articles here: Heli Skills and Setup 101 - LOOK here first! - HeliFreak

The flybarless revolution has rendered some of it a bit dated but still lots of good info to be found there.
