Just remember that if you make one part stronger then something else may break instead.
If your boom doesn't break then your mainframe might.
I would look for a way to make some cheap replacements that you can quickly swap, rather than buy an expensive unbreakable one.
As for tarting it up, when it's flying you can't see it
