Hi first post on forum, I have just bought a syma 107g indoor heli this is the first RC I have ever owned at nearly two weeks, I am surprised it is still in one piece first flight was up to ceiling and straight back to the floor, with many more crash to follow, I can now fly figure of eight, land pretty well. that's my brief history of flying heli.

I have been reading posts on site and thinking of getting a Blade 200, or a blade mcx2, what do you guys think pro's and cons,

ps can you fly with safe mode until more confident,

    thanks

Be prepared for a little shock. The syma s107g is a VERY STABLE AND EASY helicopter to fly! It also uses non-standard controls, so you may need to relearn the controls a little with a "proper" heli.

The Blade 200SRX, mSRX are the two helis I would probably recommend as a next stage - as you note, the 200SRX has a "safe" mode to make learning easier.

the mSRX could be flown carefully indoors, but the 200SRX is realistically an outdoor / large sports hall type heli. Realistically it's too big for indoor (ie. an average house) flying.

    Best of luck!

I've said this to a few people recently, but in my opinion the best model to get as a step up is the Blade nano QX quadcopter. Don't let the fact it's a quad put you off, it has a safe mode for beginners which flies similar to your current models, and an agility mode which lets you practice for a full CP helicopter.

It's the perfect size to learn indoors, it's extremely tough, and the blades are small enough it's safe to learn on too.
      Helis: Oxy 2 FE / Oxy 2 Sport / Protos 380 / Oxy 4 Max / Gaui X3 380mm
      Electronics:

      Sims: Realflight / AccuRC

I'll be very interested to hear how you get on with the 200 SRX outdoors

Like you I started with a Syma 107 only about a month ago and first flight was exactly like yours - straight into the ceiling and then straight down to the floor! I still find it quite throttle sensitive now, but very stable in flight and very limited on control.

Then I bought both an mCX2 and a nano QX quad for Christmas. Both are great to fly and light years ahead of the Syma. The mCX2 is very easy to fly and has the all-important 4ch control with a proper swashplate. It's about as stable as the Syma to hover, but far more precise in any movement and flies a fair bit faster. You can master this in a day or two with no problem, but still useful for practising circuits and orientation skills etc, plus it's a nice looking little heli with the flashing LED lights etc. The nano QX quad is just awesome for indoor learning and flying. It flies like an advanced CP micro and has the SAFE technology to calm it down when you need. Also totally indestructible and maintenance free. Unlike the mCX2, I can't imagine ever outgrowing the nano QX. It's so quick and precise and makes the mCX2 look extremely pedestrian. This is now my main tool for learning CP control from my sofa.

I'm planning to get a 200 SRX in spring when the weather improves, but in the meantime I've logged about 200 flights on my two micros in the last month, plus several hours on the sim.
SAB Goblin 380 KSE - latest love thang
Lynx OXY 3 - my mini flagship!
Blade 180 CFX - field beater for new moves
Blade Red Bull BO-105 CB 130 X - scale fun flying at the field when the tail isn't broken, which is not often.
              Blade mCPX - sold

Blade Nano QX - house fly of choice
Blade mCX2 - retired but will be back when the kids get a bit bigger

              Spektrum DX8 - for everything
              ne
Xt sim - the sim I started out with
Heli-X sim - my new favourite sim!

Funny the first thing the missus said about the syma was ooh its got flashing lights they are rather cute, my goal is to have fun with 200, and ultimately get a quad with camera, i'll keep posting how I am getting on with 200,
