  • Wl v911 copter

Dear fellows, I'm new to forums and RC helis. Please, bear with me. I just acquired a WL V911, a step-up from my much-loved 3-ch. trainer. Lately, the V911 won't take off, just skids across the floor one way and the other, like a drunken pigeon. Just won't lift off. Forget about trimming - did no good.

    Hi,

For a fixed pitch heli I'd say the only reason is due to rotor speed. So this means you have probabaly over discharged your Lipo or the Lipo has gone bad. If you have over discharged then you have ruined the Lipo. Do you time your flights and fly as per the instructions or do you run the Lipo down until you hear the motor become slower? Or you have crashed it and bent something causing friction inthe drive system allowing the headspeed to not reach speeds to induce enough lift.

Cheers, Woodsta888 for your reply. It's not the battery 'cause I have a spare. It's most likely that something is bent from all the crashes. Oh dear! Just what I was afraid to hear. But then again, my careful inspection shows nothing out of place... Again, cheers mate.

Still on the matter of the WL V911 heli, when I raise the throtle and the rotor starts turning, the tail blade turns too. Could that be the reason it doesn't lift up but instead carooms across the floor? In the other helis I have, the tail blades do NOT spin until you apply the Forwrd/Back controls. Are you there Woodsta888 and anyone familiar with the V911?

All single rotor helis like the V911 need the tail rotor to be rotating ALL the time to stop them spinning round. Your other helis are co-axial i.e. 2 main rotors spinning in opposite directions and the tail rotor just makes them go forward/back, which is why they are not always spinning.
So the tail rotor spinning is not your problem here. As you have effectively ruled out the battery, I would suspect the motor or drive gearing. Sounds like something is preventing the main rotor from spinning at high enough speed to get off the ground.

May I take this opportunity to thank Woodsta888 and Peteski for their useful advice, and to wish them, the rest of the gang and administrators a merry Christmas.
Meanwhile, I have a very worrying problem with my U818A Quadcopter. I don't know if I'm allowed to post that here, but I will shortly soon as I get the graphics ready. If I'm violating some rule, please let me know and ignore the post. But these are troubling times for my quad, this holiday period when I should be out having fun.
            Again, Merry Christmas all!

After months and months of great fun with my WL V911 helis, a bad crash finally brought me down to earth. The tail motor is kaput. I have lived in fear of this happening. I have extracted the dead motor and cut the wires but dared not bring a soldering iron near such thin, fragile wires. Has anyone done this before? What do I do now?

Has anyone figured out how to replace the tail boom on V-911?

Cheers all, while I await an answer.

Looks like it can be done, but is going to be fiddly:

Sure was fiddly, man. But I had the motors swapped in the end. Problem is, it don't spin - just like before. I tested everything I could with multimeter and all seemed positive. Still, it won't spin. I may have to take the little rascal to an exorcist. lol.
