  • beginner tool box/field box

I am looking to put together a basic tool/field box
    What do you guys recommend?
Did you buy a heli tool kit or did you buy separate tools ?
I'll be looking for ideas specific to Blade heli's to begin
Any help or suggestions gratefully accepted
    Darren

I have a roll-up tool pouch that I got when I first started that has worked great as a compact way of carrying them around and what I always take with me is: 4 sizes of hex drivers, I think they're 1.5, 2,3 and 4mm, a couple sizes of cross blade screwdriver and a few sizes of flat blade screwdrivers, a pair of link pliers, some regular pointed nose pliers, a pair of scissors, a small LED torch. Other things I might have in there would be electrical tape, I have two kinds of oil from Robbe in pen shaped tubes with needle ends, a link reamer and a swash level tool and LiPo checker.

Some of that you could do without. Other things I have at home but don't always take to the field are: a digital pitch gauge, exacto knife, red and blue locktite, CA glue and epoxy, adhesive velcro, spare battery straps.

How come the amazon price of the toolkit in the original post is £999? Are the tools made from diamond encrusted 24 carat gold?

I used to cart a load of stuff around and it got silly. Now I take ball-links, a 4-1 hex driver (hobbyking), their cross head/flat head screwdriver and a glowplug wrench and long nosed pliers - and 1-2 spare helis. Noe of the tools are really necessary if going to meet up at a flying site 'cos there's always someone there who's more organised to borrow from! Gone are the days when i carted a mix of spare nuts/bolts/threadlocks, epoxy, shafts, gears etc but i do have a spare glowplug and some cable ties.
