Dx6i to dx8 buddy

Im just wanting to gather a better understanding of this, i have already looked at some youtube vids and read some posts, but im just looking to clarify what i think.

Basically a friend has an old trex 600 which he is a little nervous to fly. He uses a dx6i and i use a dx8. In order for me to buddy him on his heli would i have to:

*bind his heli to my dx8 and set up.

*use the dx6i as a slave

*set all settings on the dx6i the same as my dx8

Then its just a case of me holding the switch while he practices the hover and letting go of the switch if he gets into trouble (obviously taking control)

He can already hover as he has sim practice and also a smaller cp heli under his belt.

This will also be done with training gear on.

Using the same system with the DX6 as the slave, have to watch the CCPM as setting both the same seemed to confuse the heli and only had minimal movement on the swash.

Thankfully one of the guys figure it out and ok now - although not certain everything is set the same.

Once set just hold the button down and fly

I used a similar setup a couple of years ago. Master was dx8 and slave was dx6. Set up a new model on the dx6, all default settings.

Found this on YouTube. It may help.

Test at it all out before you take off! Disconnect the motor if you need to.

make sure you test all controls first. Some may need reversed.

Yes it does, dx8 is on 120 I think, if the slave is the same it seemed to confuse the heli - no movement in the swash
