  • hi learner flyer advice .

ok bought a heli for me and son to practice on

twister storm 3d , thinking it might be too much first chopper.

anyway we practiced in back garden with a rack holding it down to begin with just to work out what lever does what and throttle
    control practice etc .

we went over field today , just to see if we could get it off the ground , but could not , it seems to want to push into the ground rather than
    take off .

i switched blades the other way up , but still the same.

any advice on this apreciated .

might get a smaller lesser model to begin with .

    thanks all

thanks to mod for putting post up apreciate it !!

anyway i been looking over helicopter it was used which might be a mistake seeing as i know nothing about this complex hobby .

under the main blades you have what i believe is the swash plate , it seems to have a jammed servo ( if looking at the nose of heli if on the left side rear Swash plate connector .

Sounds like pitch is reversed, what transmitter are you using?

Not sure, looks like it had a hard life

I've had a few of these, smashing helis but dare I say a bit of a handful and twitchy for a starter. I agree it seems the pitch is reversed but these usually came with a Twister radio (and Rx) all set up and ready to go. If it wasn't ready set up to the radio (Twister or otherwise) it'll need some setting up. Can you check the pitch orientation without spooling it up; I am guessing no. As the pitch runs on the same (Left mode 2) stick it may be awkward if you are new to this. As a safety note I'd say have the blades off while messing about but the pitch gauge needs blades on though you can tell pitch by looking at the blade grips. Assuming it has a non twister Rx then I'd disconnect the ESC and power up with a Rx battery pack so I can check the swash movements on the bench. I hope this helps and is not too much jargonese.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Why simplify when it is so much simpler to complicate.

just be aware the swash plate movement on the storm is reversed. (the swash moves down as you increase throttle/pitch.) If the servo you have highlighted is not moving its more than likely stripped gears inside they are rather delicate!holding the heli on a rack whilst moving the controls will really stress them.
