  • Main rotor blades and fly bar setup

Hello, due to being a beginner I had a major crash, because of a wall being in the wrong place..... Or perhaps my inability to fly the helicopter. I replaced nearly everything from the swash plate up. Then I had my second crash, the heli jumped about a foot into the air, which I had not planned so I used my cat like reflexes to hit the throttle back to zero, unfortunately the heli seemed to power its way into the ground. It is not set to 3d mode, it is a twister cpx. So on the grounds that I an a beginner, how can I adjust the set up so it doesn't do this, and most importantly, how can I some how measure the setup with out resorting to a test flight?

Dont worry we have all been there.
I have no experience with your heli but I would do this.
    Get your swash level.
Set your main blades to zero pitch at midstick.
Then adjust your pitch curve so you have about -2 degrees of negative pitch at low throttle this will stop the heli pulling its self into the ground when you drop the throttle quickly.
If you can just power the rx up with a separate battery pack 4cell nimh packs are what I use, its safer to work on the heli without running the risk of spooling up,if you cant just disconnect the motor.

Take a look at the helifreak website and it's finless bob forum

Hopefully I've pasted a link to his heli setup 101 videos, these will walk you through setting up a heli including using a pitch gauge to check your setup so you know what the heli is doing when you move the sticks around. You should be aiming for zero pitch at centre stick and around 10 degrees with full collective.

Very important, when playing with the setup unplug the motor, can be nasty if it spins up on the kitchen table with your head in the way.
