Gyro related crash

I have a 3GX compact which had a mind of its own today.

I wanted to confirm what I think caused it.

When I plugged the battery in, it was sat on thick grass and as it did its little main blade dance (when it changed pitch 3 times quickly when first plugged in) it wobbled a bit. I guess the 'blade dance' thing is the gyro turning on or something?

Could the heli wobbling while it did this have messed up the gyro for the flight?

I doubt it... the 3 pitch pumps mean it's finished initialising and is ready to go.

Do gyros break? it was a second hand heli.

I literally took off, turned 90deg left, forwards in to a loop and when it came out if just went mental going left/right but uncontrollably like the gyro was turned off.
