  • blades hit the ground....what shall i check?

long story short............. blades hit the ground today on my 450x, nothing to bad.

The servo arms have snapped, ive checked the feathering shaft and all ok, and so are the servos. Is there anything else i should check for damage?

Take the blades off and turn the feathering shaft with a hex key -observe if the opposite blade grip moves to confirm if the shaft is bent. They are pretty weak on the blade, if you have problems in the future take the shaft out and roll it on some flat glass to check properly that it is still straight.

There's a possibility that you've put a bend in your main shaft. Take main and tail blades off and carefully spin her up. A bent shaft will become apparent pretty quickly. Again, if in doubt take it out and roll on glass.

Post a picture of the main blade damage. Tip scrapes are usually ok in my book. All the loading is towards the root of the blade - damage there is not so forgiving. Don't treat the ends with chemicals in case they have a reaction with the CF.

Sometimes you can get away with light damage especially with all the wet weather we've been having, the ground is nice and soft, it depends on the angle it goes in. If the servo arms snapped looks like most force went through the head, so work down from top, blades, feathering shaft, ball links, servo arms, swash, servos, main shaft, one way bearing, main gear/teeth. Then start looking at tail: boom, tt gear or belt, tail slider, tail rotor. That should cover it, for now haha
