  • Twister 3D Storm + dx6i Settings

    Hello,

    Please can anyone help?

Does anyone know the dx6i settings for the Twister 3D Storm??

Any help would be much appreciated!!

    Cheers,

    Dave!

Ill take a look. I tried the DX7 settings they have in the manual but I found them not to work, so had to start from scratch. Considering I'd never done it before, it worked out ok.

Here's the more delicate stuff. Can I assume you have simple stuff liek throttle and pitch curves set already?

      D/R and Expo:
      Aile - 100 + 7%
      Elev - 100 + 7%
      Rudd - 100 + 1%

      Gyro:
      0 - 30
      1 - 75

      Swash mix:
      Aile -60%
      Elev +60%
      Pitch -60%

      Mix 1:
      Inh

      Mix2:
      Inh

      Reverse:
      Thro - N
      Aile - R
      Elev - R
      Rudd - N
      Gyro - N
      Pitch - N

      D/R combi:
      D/R sw: fm

I think that might be all you need to know

Anything else? gizza shout and I'll have a look, I hope to have been of some help.

The settings in the Twister Manual used to have an error. The Blade 400 ones should be ok.

The original gyro was very temperature sensitive. It would drift very badly during flight. I found rate mode easier than hold mode. Hold mode could be unpredictable, sometimes ok and other times giving a 180 degree spin on takeoff.

Funny that, because I've been using the 3D Storm's HL-400 gyro on both my Mini Titans since February 2009. Not once have I ever experienced any unpredictability from it, nor any 180s.
It's shown itself to be a more reliable little gyro than others costing several times its price, to the point where I have no plans to buy anything else.

Back on subject, looks like Crazy L's got the DX6i stuff sorted.

The hl400 on the storm is a far better gyro than eflites offering on the blade 400.( which i think is the one Chris is referring to.) and its cheaper

It was a few years ago. It was the Twister Storm gyro that was dreadful for temperature compensation. In those days stable gyros were around £100. I bought a Futaba 401 secondhand and it was very good. The problem was with the way temperature compensation was done. It was very hit and miss until the compensation was done properly by new technology. It was common then to have to allow the gyro to stabilise thermally for five minutes or more. My gyro became unusable as soon as the temperature dropped.

Well, I am surprised. The HL-400 that's the Twister Storm & CP Gold gyro's a great little gyro, especially for £25! Never failed me in rain, snow and heat. If mine ever broke, I'd get the same one again, no hesitation.

Cheers dude. Especially as it was the 1st time I set up a heli radio, and a heli, from scratch.

I see in the above posts a bit of a furore about the hl400 gyro. I found the one fitted to mine to be not the best. It wouldn't hold the tail still, I tried all sorts, not just me either,a friend of mine who's been flying for a number of years couldn't get the thing sorted, so probably just a duff'en, it's not to say they're all bad. I replaced it with an Assan ga250, the first of which would not go into travel set mode, but the 2nd one which replaced that has been spot on since it was sticky padded on about a year ago.

Thanks for the the thanks though, still chuffed with that.
