  • Intermittent Alignment Issues with 2.4Ghz Shuang Ma 9118

    Hello to all forum members.

I got a Shuang Ma 9118 2.4Ghz model for an xmas gift.

I have managed to fly it a few times since then and have also learn how to replace parts sadly,

However i have had great difficulties aligning the controller with the helicopter each time,

Sometimes i have managed to connect it after a minute, and sometimes it just fails to align after dozens of attempts.

I power on the helicopter with a flashing red LED active. Then power on the controller with the throttle all the way down,

The controller LED goes solid but the helicopter continues to flash quickly.

I have also tried throttle on then off during the controller power up...

Should the helicopter LED flash differently after it knows its on a level surface ?

Any ideas cos im suspecting intermittently faulty hardware or gyros ?

    Thanks in advance.

I have also tried the sequence the opposite way, powering the controller with zero throttle, then the heli, based on the assumption that the controller is the transmitter and not reciever, but still no joy.

Try holding the controller at least 2 meters away from the Heli when powering both units on, I use Spektrum stuff and sometimes if the transmitter is too close to the receiver when powering up it takes ages to bind, it's worth a try :-)

Just tried it with no change. Thanks and like u say, worth a try.

After 2 days of trying all sort I have not managed to pair them. Getting very frustrated.

one more thing to try is to re-bind transmitter to receiver and then try again.

How would I do that. No mention other than the power up sequence In the manual which is supposed to bind them after each power up.

Well it has just paired thankfully with heli power, then controller. No idea if it will be repeatable or if something I have done rectified things....thanks for your input.

Just tried again and it paired instantly. I can get back to breaking it again. 8-)

I can see the addictive nature of it already.

I have been scouring the internet for upgrade parts and guides already.

And im intent on one day moving to a CP version, as the things u can do with them is simply amazing.

I think my current Cichlid Fish obsession will be overlooked except for rainy and windy days.

Its very exciting for me at this early stage knowing how far you can progress with it.

It may not apply to your helicopter but some require that you turn the transmitter on and wait for 5 seconds before plugging in the heli. The heli must be on a level and flat surface and kept still when the battery is being plugged in. Then don't disturb it for at least 5 seconds.
I don't know your helicopter but this certainly applies to small Blade helis.
