  • Working out good days to fly

    Hi all,

Whilst I wait for my blade MSRx to arrive (bl**dy bank holidays!) I'm starting to look around my local area for reasonable places to fly it.

I have a large field outside my house which looks ideal, however obviously this is heavily dependant on wind-speed so I'm wondering if there is a good website to use that details forecasted windspeed etc. for a given day at a more local level than the BBC's weather pages.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

    Hi Matt and welcome.

I use Wind Map - Britain Observations for a more accurate wind forecast.

Have fun with the wee one but choose a flat calm day.

    Cheers, Marty

Met ffice also has wind obs on their site ..along with rain radar, gusts, ir and visible cloud and one can make pretty good short forcast for the next few hours.
None of it helps - just look out of the window
My forcast is cold, wet, windy for the next 4 mths

I use wundermap @ wunderground.com as well as checking the weather channel app before I open my curtains lol, It's been pretty accurate so far I've found.

The weather channel app is good also because the map updates every 15mins and you can see if there's any bad weather heading in.

                Brilliant, thanks all.

The Heli arrived sooner than expected so I've already crashed it a number of times into furniture in my front room, I'll keep an eye on the weather and hope for one of those freezing cold, still days that seem to turn up between these horrible weather fronts we're getting at the moment.

Xcweather IMO is the best. Uses up-to date weather info from airports and airfields around the country plus it has forecasting on postcode. Simple and accurate and all the info you need for flying. What more could you want.
