Our eyes sometimes give a completely wrong picture of a model's orientation. This usually happens when we are close to our limit. The best thing is to know that this can happen and not to believe it. Small changes on the sticks often sort it out. Models usually do what they are told and this is often a better guide than eyesight and brain guesswork. Stick time improves our ability to guess right.

The best tip I was ever given as regards this problem is to 'kick' the tail round a little with a bit of rudder. I was having issues at the time with the far side of circuits and by giving a little bit of extra rudder you immediately 'break' the illusion and get back on with controlling the heli.

Also, another +1 on not bothering to look at the skids, but to focus more on the canopy, tail and blade disc.

One thing that helps me that I picked up from here is, when my eyes start to play tricks on me at a distance, I always try to remember the last move I did. After loads of practice doing this, I found it easier to predict what the heli was going to do next.

            Works for me
            Good luck

              Now that is so right!
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Why simplify when it is so much simpler to complicate.

I'd like a T shirt with the "If I duck, you should run" Logo on it.

Not much to it to be honest except daily practise - I've spent last season working on my side on flying, all sorts of things, flips, loops, half piroflips all side one. It felt awkward initially (I was one of these tail in 3D guys ) but after a while it became natural. Side on flips were probably the best exercise. It's well worth doing, opens up "proper" flying.

BTW: I watch whole heli, don't focus on any specific part.

I just practice hovering and maneuvering about in different orientations with my nano in the living room mate.
