  • Dx6i and Phoenix v4 settings????

    Hi Guys,
hope someone can help me with this!?
Just brought the two above, setting up phoenix and the dx6i was a little more tricky than I thought.
ive managed to put the word " Phoenix "as model 1. I've had a little go, tried some different Heli's, not good as yet. Are there any beginner settings or tips for me please Guys, bit clueless at the mo and want to do my best.
    many thanks.

      Hi,
      Thanks for the reply.
Well, i'm not sure what all the silver flip switches on the dx6i actually do, or what they mean? Truth is, i don't really understand all the controls, only some of them.
Also, are there beginner settings i can put in the dx6i? So all the Heli's are more beginner friendly?
P.s I'm sure iv'e calibrated it correctly as the controls are VERY responsive, that's the big part of the problem.

in phoenix all models start with beginner settings, people will later crank up responsivenes of flybarless systems way up.

start with Whiplash or TDR (three dee rigid) models. they're most stable and realistic. if that's too repsonsive for you, well, that's just how collective pitc models feel likeL

"its really responsive" is a typical response to the first try of flying a model either real or on the sim.

in actual fact. you are just moving the stick too much.

a good example is driving a car. most cars steering wheels are about 2 turns from centre to full lock.

when you want to change lanes on the motorway you, dont turn the wheel 2 turns, you put a little pressure on the wheel it barely moves and the car slowly move across to the lane you want.

Hovering a heli is exactly the same (except in more dimensions and its more slippery!).

Hovering a heli is very much like keeping a ball bearing sitting still on a plate of glass. once the ball starts moving it will want to keep moving until you stop it. It is actually a really good thing to try as it teaches you the basics of the control inputs.

Phoenix has a hover training mode, use it. start with aileron only, then elevator only then elevator and aileron. This will build your muscle memory.

            +1

Also go on YouTube and watch a few videos to learn how your radio really works. It will make the learning experience significantly easie;, as there are many tunes to play on setting up a helicopter, especially when learning.
