  • How to lower Gyro gain?

    trex700e DFC with 3GX 3.0 on Spektrum DX7s

How do I lower Gyro gain? tail is hunting a little, went into the 3gx software and lowered what I thought was the gyro gain but it didn't help, do I adjust on the TX or do I need to lower the slider on the 3gx software more?

You adjust it in your transmitter. Rudder gain is transmitted to the 3GX on channel 7. You'll have to change the TX defaults, which will otherwise put the gain on channel 5. Not sure how to do that on a DX7 off the top of my head - but a quick peruse through the manual should sort it!

Should be aux2 on a dx7 that is assigned to gyro gain , ull either have it on travel adjust or gyro sensing menu .

Ok I'm really having a hard time getting this gyro gain thing sorted

I've set up the TX switch select to this as just been told

And have set gyro to these settings as I've been told

Still not sure how to turn gain up and down though!

Not sure on the switch assignment there as I'd of just assigned aux2 to gyro, but anyway where you have -35 in position 1 you are still in rate mode , up the figure to plus 45 for a starting point the light on the 3gx should then be green an you will be in head hold , use your 3 different position switch to set different figure an you can switch between them to get the optimum performance out your tail.

I think Jim meant pos 0, not 1, but sound advice for saving you having to land and fiddle.

Its much easier to understand if you disable the gyro screens and just use the gear channel and adjust the end point values.

Centre is zero gain full one way is 100% gain in normal mode, full the other is 100% in heading hold.

These gyro screens sometimes have 50% being the middle so 50 can mean 0% gain with 0 and 100 giving 100% gain in normal/headinghold

Switching off those stupid screens simplifies things greatly!

It is easier unless your using it on flight mode an have different gains for each idle otherwise aux2 in travel adjusts is the easiest way to adjust the gain on the 3gx .

I would tend to agree Ade, but it's just a read of the manual and it all makes sense in using the gyro and governor screens. They tend to give you 3 options depending on flight mode and some people like using them for that. I use my channels the way you describe though.

Hello Cabbie I have a 450,600 and 700 on a dx7s all on 3gx and go along with Jim, Set switch screen as you have it but inh the mix switch as well, then on the gyro screen you need to change the bottom left CH to aux2. Position 0 to 45, position 1 to 50 and position 3 to -45. Then use your top left inner gyro switch to change.
                    Regards Adrian

Ok done that, so POS 0 & 1 are Heading hold (green on 3gx) and POS 2 is Rate mode (red on 3gx) so I now have 2 gain settings I can switch while in flight? and if I still have "hunting" I can lower either 0 or 1 to improove it, is that correct?
