  • New e-flight 130x

Just got my new 130x and Spectrum DX8. As I'm practising I'm noticing that the cyclic (Elevator and Aileron) seem to lose response some times for a couple of seconds and then regain movememt. One thing I have noticed is that when static on the ground some of the servos sound like they are twitching away. I'm wondering if I have mis-programed the RC unit. I have double checked all the settings. One point I did note was I didn't seem to have the option to Inhibit the Swashplate?

Difficult one.! with so many of us on here with the 130 ive not known this problem, are you trying to fly indoors or out, indoors poss an interference from something.?

Mine doesn't lose cyclic response. Sounds faulty.

I would check all the plugs and connections to the board as i had this with the mcpx.a bit of hot glue stopped them from coming apart.Twitching servos normal as the least bit of a breeze set them off.

First off, "chattering" servos is 100% normal - nothing to worry about at all. It's mostly the tail servo, but the cyclics will do it too. It's just the way the AS3X software works on the control board.

Loss of response - That's a bit odd. The first thing I'd check is the DX8. Go to the monitor screen and move the sticks to make sure that the screen shows correct movement to match the sticks. Chances are it's fine - but it doesn't hurt to check.

On the assumption that the problem is with the 130x (the most likely), I would check of couple of things. Firstly, check that the anti-rotation pin on the swashplate isn't snagging on the canopy. For ages I chased on problem on my 130x only to find that it was that pin catching on the canopy. Try moving the swash through all collective and cyclic movements on the bench (throttle hold on) to see if you can see anything abnormal. Also, maybe try flying with the canopy off for a while.

If you really are stuck - contact Horizon Hobby in Essex (Welcome to Horizon Hobby UK). Their after sales support is generally extremely good. They will probably ask you to send them the 130x (you pay for postage there), but if there's a problem - they will fix it. They pay for postage back.

Call them first mind (number on the website) to discuss your issue.

The 130X can be temperamental - but the local support from HH is one of the things that makes it a good heli!

I am lucky if I can get more than about 4 consecutive flights without something going wrong. That's even if I don't crash.

I've found my 130-X to be more reliable than anything else. It is showing signs of wear now after about a year. Each crash leaves its mark and it all adds up.
