And when you start doing aerobatics start with the simple stuff loops, barrel rolls, stall turns. Again do them upright, inverted, forwards and backwards

Then I would advise stationary flips and rolls, funnels and hurricanes again all orientation (im at this point in my flying really, I can do more but its not what I would call neat)

Then your onto the advanced stuff piroflips etc and youd need a 3d god to teach u them! LOL
Yeah I'm moving house next week, once in and got my cinema room set up with sim, gona spend some time locked away on the sim. Slow steps it will be and one step at a time. At the field I think my mcpx is gona take a bashing lol, but I won't learn it all on the sim. Thanks Ken, wise words

Yup thats why I bought a 450..... Smashing Goblins up is kinda expensive!! But yeah like I say, polish the basics first. Im doing this now as I want to further my flying but I want the solid foundation behind me. I have taken a step back from where I was at, as I say I can do more 3d moves (4 point tic tocs, and some pirouetting moves) but theyre really scruffy. Having the skill to do the basic stuff spot on will help me with the advanced stuff.

And sim time is a must!! Ive neglected it a bit this week but i usually get an hour a day atleast
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod

Only bit of advice I have is don't get 'handed'. All too easy to be comfortable turning in one direction and not the other. Same for rolls loops etc

Also do start slow pirouetting moves early (sorry Jimmy). Pirouetting is the way to start 3d. Simple straight line, then with reversals and moving into circles. so that you start to instinctively correct the heli to keep the correct travel. Amazing how learning pirouetting stuff you start to correct your orientation without thinking about it and then you start to fly the manoeuvre.

If you can do inverted circuits but can't pirouette an upright circle then you have not learnt in a progressive way IMO.

It all hurts the brain to begin with. But that's good right?!?!

Cheers, I do tend to do them same turn, flip, loop, etc. good advice and taken in. I also learnt a valuable leason "FLY HIGHER" lol they all take the p**s outa me at the field and say I need binoculars, as I fly that high, they just need better eye sight lol.

the temptation to say... "I am a 3d guru" is very high but that might come across big headed :-)

Firstly it is really important to fly the sim like you fly the real thing be afraid to crash and there is no point learning to do stuff 6ft off the ground if you are going to do it at 50ft for real. The model will look very different from that perspective.

Next, as others have said, dont get handed. Learn to do something one direction than learn to do it the other.

Ensure the basics are spot on before trying to do something more advanced. If I had a quid for every time I have seen people trying to do chaos when they cant hold a hover upright/inverted whilst pirouetting I might be able to buy a few beers right now :-)

start with getting your hovering and slow stuff controlled and centred, hovering in all orientations first, then slow circles, ensuring you are controlling the speed and in both directions. then really nice circular figure 8s. Then ramp up the speed/size. Emphasising on position and control, You control the model not the other way round.

            once you are 100% confident with that do it all again;

            backwards
            sideways
            inverted
            pirouetting
rolling/looping/flipping/pirouetting combos of the common moves. eg.. a rolling loop, piroetting flip/loop, tumbling loops (flipping whilst looping)

and all combinations of all of it.

Yes that is a lot but thats the great thing about this sport, there is always something to learn but its important to get the basics spot on because without that basic level of control you are never going to be fully in control of the model and when it ends up in some weird orientation if you dumb thumb or the tail blows out you are much less likely to be able to regain control before it hits the deck.

Some very good advice here. I'll just add that it is not a race and can take years to learn just some of the fancy 3D moves. Best advice is to keep at it and I don't mean constantly pushing yourself, just fly ALOT and have FUN, if you are doing these too things then you will get there without even thinking about it.
